The perks (or lack thereof) of being a wallflower: a bit nervous about the Meet n Greetred_smile

I've been to two meet n greets and have enjoyed myself immensely, but feel like my shyness has hindered me a bit. An introvert by nature, I do better with intimate, deep conversations than with small talk and both large crowds and small groups of people involved in conversation kind of intimidate me. It's hard for me to approach someone I don't know, but I promise I tend to warm up quickly! So if you see me tomorrow please feel free to come say hi :D

Looking forward to tomorrow!

I'm sorry to say I just departed the ATL, so I won't be able to attend the MG.  I regret that because I really appreciate the ATL community.

Regarding your shyness, I would suggest just being you.  Once we accept/love ourselves first, we lose the fear of presenting ourselves to others.  And once we give others a chance, we usually find they are nice people too.

I hope you, and everyone at the MG has a wonderful time.  Think of me when you have your first beverage.  Maybe that will allow me to be there in spirit.

Best,

TONY

I will definitely say hi if I end up going ;-)

Set yourself a goal, to meet 5 guys and 5 ladies.  A numeric goal lets your mind focus on something other than how nervous you are.

For the first 90 minutes, try to mingle with a new group every 15 minutes, this forces you off the wall

Ask your current conversation companion to introduce you to one of their friends, this way you are not approaching alone

Most importantly, just smile, enjoy bad jokes, tell a few of your own, laugh.  You are beautiful, your smile will draw others to you if you let it warm the room.

Most of us only bite a little bit, and then only behind closed doors.  So you are safe, and surprising not alone in your shyness.  Heck, let that be your conversation starter.  I am not a great mingle person either, but I have made some wonderful friends at m&g

I'm really just a bit awkward to warm up, once I get going I'm okay. Thank you very much for your insight!

I offer my somewhat questionable gentlemanly services.  I will even contain my flirting.

You did great on our walk around. You were quite the hit. Audrey would have been honored.

of your comfort zone once in a while.

have fun and let us know if anything good happens.

Where do I do that?
