Downtown Decatur is charming, with lots of great local shops, restaurants, and bars. Brickstore Pub is amazing and has one of the finest beer selections in the area. A cute little homemade ice cream shop opened right by the Marta station and it is scrumptious. Decatur is fairly convenient to Midtown (where your's truly happens to be located 
) and downtown, the northern areas like Buckhead, Lindbergh, and Sandy Springs/Perimeter are a little further out but can be reached within 25-30 sans traffic. You should be fine if you avoid rush hour. Feel free to pm if you want more suggestions on where to eat, Decatur truly has one of the best local scenes around in my totally unbiased opinion
