I view organized religion as a business. I can't take offense when someone dosen't live up to their self proclaimed belife, to do so is assigning credibility to their belife.

I know that's not what you said in your post, you were making a comparison.

The Fake Christian, who goes around preaching to others while living his/her life in a completely different manner, or the "true believer" who takes the bible literally, just like fundamental Muslims, "true believers" can be some very scary people. Any one who has no respect for the "laws of men" and only answers to his so called "higher power" (voices in his head) is someone who can not be reasoned with. That's what makes them so scary

In a way I prefer the "fake Christians" as they are less likely to be nut jobs than the real thing.

In politics especially, almost everyone at least pretends to be a Christian, it's almost a prerequisite to getting elected. George W Bush is one who fooled me. Knowing what I did about his youth and the drinking and the drugs, I thought that he was simply pandering to the voters about his faith and that was partially why I voted for him, the main reasons of course being the fact that the alternatives, either Gore or Kerry were worse. I was rather disappointed to learn that Bush really was a religious puke.

So yes, I suppose if it's a choice between a hypocrite or a nutjob, I guess I do indeed prefer the hypocrite. A hypocrite is much less likely to blow up the planet in a pointless holy war, you never know what the fuck a true believer is capable of doing in the name of his god.
