WTC Bombing 1993 and a new instruction manual

Terrorists tried to topple the Twin Towers in NYC in 1993 with a truckload of nitrate that they detonated in the lower parking garage. It made a HUGE hole and did a lot of damage but it barely wobbled the towers. The ensuing news coverage and technical analysis over the next few years kindly pointed how stupid it was to try to bring down the WTC from below and that the correct way to bring them down, because of the nature of their construction, was from the top.

In their defense, the analysts didn't give instructions on how to coordinate the hijacking of multiple aircraft and they did not actually encourage terrorists to put their theories to the test.

(It has been noted that the bin Laden family is in the construction business and Osama and his cohort might have figured out the top-down approach anyway, but there's nothing like having the major networks, BBC, PBS and others pay for the consultants to confirm and broadcast the best methods.)

Oh yeah: the analysts were correct about the top-down method of WTC destruction: Sept 11, 2001.

Why tell the public that he was traced through a cell phone that had been discarded in a trash bin? Don't we want to track more terrorists the same way; let them go on throwing their cell phones in a trash can on their way to a murder? Haven't we now told them how to avoid being tracked? Isn't this similar to when it was leaked that Bin Laden was being tracked by cellphone messages, so he went dark? I must be missing something, but what?

Just like a few threads down someone wanted complete disclosure of vetting processes for immigrants.....we can't divulge any methods to these people....

If you believe many of the Republican presidential candidates, governors and conservative press, there is little or no vetting process!  ;)

The one Obama claims to have - this was the post I replied to

"@50 bodies of Yzadis (sp) women estimated to be over the age of 50 discovered. Murdered cause they could not be sold as sex slaves. No need to have this in US.

Obama and his admin say a very stringent vetting process is in place. But never have seen or heard even step one of the process. If they are really sincere, explain the process to the American people and justify the program to admit Syrians. "

But of course a nimwit like you has to twist a response into an attack on Republicans

Yes, the Republican's and some Democrats are pretending like there is no vetting process. Why? Not because they're not in the know, but rather their constituents are afraid, and demanding to be protected from terrorism. Nothing wrong with wanting your elected officials to protect you, but being less than truthful about where the real threats are, and are not, and pretending like those threats are not being dealt with by the Obama administration is deceitful. Which, is nothing new to politicians who are trying to keep their jobs, both Democrats and Republicans.  ;)

.....as was my reply...what you have added to this I do not know........whether there is or is not a current vetting process for immigration is immaterial to this discussion

"Just like a few threads down someone wanted complete disclosure of vetting processes for immigrants.....we can't divulge any methods to these people.... "

Seems like you just equated the two!  ;)

as apparently you cannot read.

in other words do not tell the enemy how you do things

my response

"Just like a few threads down someone wanted complete disclosure of vetting processes for immigrants.....we can't divulge any methods to these people...."

the post and my response in the the referenced thread

"Obama and his admin say a very stringent vetting process is in place. But never have seen or heard even step one of the process. If they are really sincere, explain the process to the American people and justify the program to admit Syrians. "

"Publicizing the vetting process would be as dumb as publicly stating your war tactics (oops he has done that)"

reinforcing the OP that we should not tell the enemies how we do things

Not a discussion of whether there is or is not a vetting process today, or whether it is good enough, or even if we should have one

However, you introduced the subject of a vetting process for the Syrians, and I chose to poke fun at the fact that the Republicans pretend that there is no such thing. It was a bit of rifting and humor on my part. Which, if I understand the rules of the board, is permitted. It's not like I completely hijacked the thread!   ;)
