obama said all the right things about vets yesterday, but they were just words. He just said the words, but does not mean any of it.

And now hillwhorie has the same disrespect and disregard for men and women who serve and have served

ever since the Civil War.

Keeping Uncle Sam's promise to Vets is just another dirty little truth about our elected leaders and priorities.

want to farm out the VA? The House Republican's hold the purse-strings. It's time to back up the governments promises to the Vets, with the money it requires. Backlogs are not due, so much, to inefficient organization, but lack of staff, which means lack of money for salaries. Up to date medical record keeping and diagnostic technology, of course, would help. Ben Carson believes it would be a great deal to privatize the VA. Fun, most Vets. don't think so!  ;)

Hands out over 142 million in bonuses to a bunch of incompetent fuck-ups.

If there is a lack of staff how about using that money to hire more staff, update medical record keeping etc.?

The VA healthcare system has been a sinkhole of corruption and ineptness since its inception. That covers one hell of a lot of different administrations - Rep and Dem, Con and Lib.

My opinion? There is no opportunity for any politician to gain power, money or significant votes by championing Veterans Affairs with more than lip service. As for privatization... there is money to be made there but I'm sure the American taxpayer will be paying for that extra lining to the Pol's pockets.

I doubt anything will change, as I doubt the politics of division will allow for alignment on an effective solution (doing what's right) in the absence of significant opportunity for gains in power, money, votes.......
