As a newer member to this board, I see all
sorts of concerns about LE. With all of the murders, robberies, terrorists, etc in the world,
what priority does this hobby have to LE? I can't
imagine this hobby being high on their list as a top priority. Is there a special department whose
job it is to patrol this hobby? It seems that that LE might have more important things to do with their time. Maybe ???
How much LE cares is relative. How much are you willing to risk to find out is the important question. In my street mongering days I had a couple of close calls with LE (including one cop who caught us in the act, yelled at us and then drove away to let the lady finish...). My problems since taking my hobbying indoors have been non-existent. Does that mean nothing can happen? Well, of course not. My feeling however is that, on the higher end of the hobby LE is much less concerned about what goes on between two consenting adults who carry on DISCRETELY behind closed doors. LE becomes involved when the hobby becomes a public nuisance. This can take the form of street walkers but it can also be the ladies who advertise on CL to the extremes of posting exactly what town and hotel they are working in. Again, the more discreet you are the less likely you are to be hassled. Just my humble opinion of course....
I agree with the discretion part. When I was doing my research prior to my first hobby encounter, I looked up the prostitution arrests in the county where I lived. There were very few arrests, and those mostly happened during sweeps of the areas where the streetwalkers hang out.

History 101, presidents are elected every 4 years (next in 2008) and congress every other year from the presidential election (2008, 2010, etc.)
In this case, I think your local elections are more important. This is especially true for someone running for Mayor, Sheriff, Judge, or District Attorney.
Those positions benefit from a "We're Fighting Crime!" story in the paper just before the election. Where I live, there are usually elections in November (combined with the general elections) and again in April.
