"'If this election is about how we're going to fight to get nothing done, then I don't want anything, I don't want to be a part of it. I don't want to be elected president to sit around and see gridlock become so dominant that people are literally in decline in their lives,' he said, according to CNN's Jake Tapper."

"'I've got a lot of really cool things I could do other than sit around, being miserable, listening to people demonize me and me feeling compelled to demonize them,' Bush said." "'That's a joke. Elect Trump if you want that.'"

Sounds a lot like a little kid who doesn't want the play the game unless he's winning. And, reminiscent, to me, of when Biden said he didn't know if he had it in him to run for president after the death of his son. I predicted then that he would not, or if he did, he wouldn't get the votes he needed to win the nomination.

"..................terrorist attacks. Lest we forget it was while Jeb Bush was Governor of Florida that the 911 Saudi hijackers, some of whom had expired or nearly-expired U.S. visas, were granted driver licenses by the Florida State DMV. This allowed the 911 hijackers to drive around the country with near zero security scrutiny.  At some point this will become a central political point in the campaign, maybe not the Republican primaries but most certainly the General election

And, I'm most certain Ed and followme will agree!  Seriously! ;)

The difference of course is that people actually want Ryan to step up and become Speaker of the House. I don't see a tenth of the support for Jeb Bush. His first week of campaigning was his best, it's been all downhill from there. Even with all his Super Pac money, he is polling in single digits and Marco Rubio is now the betting favorite at 2-1. By contrast, now that Biden is out Hilary is now a prohibitive 1-9, odds on favorite to win the Democratic nod.

Jeb has simply looked too weak to be POTUS, Hillary has much bigger balls than him and Trump pushed him all around the stage when Jeb tried to "man up" against him.  The Republican voters are already sick of having a POTUS that they see as a pussy in the form of Barrack Obama, I don't see them being in any mood to vote for a wuss from their own party, and THAT is Jeb's biggest problem right now. Jeb seems to forget he is in a rough and tumble battle to become POTUS, not a TER battle for BSU.

But, not so much in regards to Ryan, but Hillary. I read an op-ed by Peggy Noonan, whom I can barely stand to see on the Sunday TV News magazine, due to her smarmy smirking, bemoaning the fact that Hillary plays the victim so well, and she always gains from it. Perhaps he really has her in mind when he plays the victim.

P.S. I thought you might appreciate this link!

When Hillary comes across as the victim, she appears whiny, petulant and just plain unlikeable.

OTOH when she rises above it and comes across as quietly confident she actually appears quite "presidential" I think this last week has proved this, and it's been quite a good week or two for Hillary.

I agree with you and Laffy at the same time. I find it hard to believe that Peggy could see Hillary as playing the victim. It must be as Laffy says: "projection," on her part. And, I think I read a bit of 'sour grapes' and resentment that Hlilary came out looking so strong, and the Repubs. on the committee so weak, and with little to sink Hillary's ship.

Playing the victim is not one of them. Quite frankly I just don't see that she does that very much.

I still think Benghazi was a legitimate scandal,(yes I know you disagree) but I don't see Hillary as the person responsible. The Repubs IMO miscalculated and should have aimed higher even though the political benefit for going after a lame duck POTUS would not have been as great as knocking out the almost sure fire winner for POTUS in '16.

As I've said before, unless another shoe drops  on her head (and I am still not ruling that out) I just don't see anyone beating her this time. Especially now that she seems to be getting her image problem squared away. She hasn't quite made it to "likeable" but she's a hell of a lot closer than she was before. Someone has been giving her some very good advice in that regard and she appears to be listening.

Though I always favored an investigation, due to the lives lost, I could not see there being a scandal without specific charges being brought. I do believe Obama and Hillary could have done more to protect them. But, all the vague charges against them, I could see as being explained by the 'fog of war,' and/or trying to balance Libya's sovereignty and trying to bolster their new and weak government vs. protecting our diplomatic staff. That's balance is often misjudged, as has been pointed out, even by GW. I'm glad the various committees found ways to improve these matters, and the State department, under Hillary and John Kerry have been implemented. I just hope they can be maintained under the current budget constraints. And, regarding lying, know some of those in the higher levels of the State department, it is quite common to be saying one thing to the leaders of a country, while feeding the press and others something quite different. Of course, misrepresenting what happened on the ground could have been done for all or part of political expediency, I could not see that it could be proved true for totally expedient purposes. It's called diplomacy, and there's seldom a clear 'this or that!  ;)

Nice to know I wasn't the only one who picked up on it!  ;)

"Bush, betraying his own frustration with the state of the race and Trump’s lead, raised eyebrows on Saturday by offering what sounded like an exit narrative. 'I’ve got a lot of really cool things I could do other than sit around, being miserable, listening to people demonize me and me feeling compelled to demonize them. That is a joke,' he said in South Carolina." “'Elect Trump if you want that.'
