Please Help! I Need Some Good Advice...Quickly! Please! Sorry For Alias, But Please Help....angry_smile

So here is the situation.  Sorry it is so long, but it is REALLY IMPORTANT!

After reading several times how men should groom themselves "down there" and "it is only fair." And after one lady recently said, "she wouldn't need to floss ater blowing me"...I decided to attempt a little gardening.

I started with a shaving of the scrotum with a multi-blade razor and established a borderline around the general area with a trimmer.  I also gave a hedge trimming to the remaining foliage with the trimmer and a riser. This was okay except the border area was agitated by the trimmer and was still prickly.

The shaved scrotum was a new feeling and felt good and the remaining foliage was still kind of unruly and the border was still prickly, so after a couple of days, I decided that if bald was good enough for the scrotum, why not clean up the whole area?

So I used the razor I use every day on my face...different blade of course...and shaved the whole general area.  This is a wonderful feeling.  So clean and smooth....smooth that was until a little over a day later when I started getting a lot of little bumps on almost every hair folical in the area.

What are these bumps, how do I get them to go away, and how do I avoid them in the future?

How do keep that area shorn without the pain and unsigtlyness of the red bumps?

I have an appt with a lady I have lusted after for a while in a few days and I was all excited about having my first "bald" experience and now I fear it is going to be a "red bump" experience.

Please help!

PS: Yes I realize asking ahead of time would have been a better idea.  Yes, I do expect to be thoroughly flamed for this.  Yes, I am embarassed, that is why I am using an alias.  And yes, I am a dumbass, thanks for asking.

Ladies can tell the difference between razor burn and other things, but if she looks at you crazy, mention your grooming escapades and let her do a health check if she's concerned. My friend dragged me into the bathroom to show me this once, demanding me to tell her what those bumps were... lol. She'd never shaved before, only waxed and was freaked she'd caught something. haha.

... for Katie's Inpection Service".  I assume you do men as well as women?

It is probably just razor burn and should go away in a few days. There have been several of these threads before.

I don't do anything and just let the process work itself out.

I prefer to use a ladies razor along with ladies shaving cream, they are better designed for the more delicate areas.

def use a ladies razor next time and to illiminate the bumps, use deoderant, a ladies deoderant, it will take the bumps away and sooth the area.  Good luck with that...

I think you pretty much answered everything in your PS.

If you have an SO, maybe she will help you.  I'm told Significant Others are wonderful.

Ahhhh...your very sensitive skin in these areas isn't so happy about the assault!  I applaud you though on your attempts...isn't smooooooth soooo nice?

For now, try extra strength visine to help sooth the area.  This will not trouble you, even if your skin is a bit sensitive.  Yes, yes, yes...it does help "get the red out" just a wee bit.

For next time...if you haven't lost all desire to be smooth...try the Magic Shave Cream below.  Yes, it IS marketed toward another use...but I can vouch for it!  Smooth and non irritating on lots of sensitive parts.

DO please try it on just a tiny spot first to test how your skin reacts.  Please DO NOT use Nair or other popular depilatory's on scrotums...Nair is quite strong.  Please DO rinse, rinse, rinse when it's time to remove the creme.

Maybe another gal can come up with a quite tip for your impending date!?

LOL bless your heart. Ah, welcome to razor burn sweetie. The razor burn you get on your face ain't nuthing to razor burn on your giggly parts.

We ladies have searched fruitlessly for years for a solution that will prevent razor burn completely. Someday maybe a Nobel winning scientist will develop a creme or lotion that will stop razor burn in its tracks. One can only hope.

But in the meantime, there are some tricks that will reduce razor burn. First off, be sure to thoroughly wash the area you are shaving before you shave. When you shave, you will peel off the top layer of skin, and create micro nicks as well, no matter how careful you are. Any little buggies hanging out in your pubic hair will now have a point of entry to get into that tender skin and cause irritation.

Also, after shaving, be careful not to let the freshly scraped area get cold and develop goose bumps. That will ruin the smooth effect of your shave, and it also produces skin irritation. Conversely though, holding a cool washcloth to the area immediately after getting out of the shower feels great and is very soothing. It also prevents inflammation which is how razor burn starts.

These tips won't stop razor burn completely, but it will help cut down on it. The best solution though, is to continue shaving the area, about every other day. Right now, your poor boys are not happy because they have always been covered by a nice protective layer of jungle growth to keep them warm, and keep them from being rubbed by your drawers. The skin is pretty fragile because of that. If you continue to keep the boys bald though, the skin will toughen up over time, and the razor burn won't be quite so bad.

PS. Over time, you will find yourself well rewarded for your efforts. I find a delicously smooth set of balls to be extremely yummy. I just love the feel of sliding my tongue of that smooth skin and playing with them, and I'm sure I am not alone in that sentiment!

Can't wait to see the post after you try that.  :-D

Maybe you should try drawing little smiley faces around the bumps and tell her they're tattoos.  LOL LOl  Oh shit, here I go again.

Are you telling me that that wasn't one of the funniest things you've read?  I couldn't type because I was laughing so hard.

LOL

This happens to everyone.  There is a product called Bikini Zone that you can get at the drugstore or superstore.  It's usually near the ladies razors.  It's an analgesic... stops the pain and the itch.  Once the bumps stop itching, they'll go away faster.

Just a note, it will make your balls feel cool and tingly, not a bad thing.  It feels good to my lady bits.  Also, wash your hands after using it.  If you get some in your eye it sucks!!

I have used it for years on legs and my little kitty. Has aloe in it and made for sensitive skin. No matter how course the hair it will work, this stuff is the best shave gel. You can buy it at Sallys Beauty Supply.  Never get bumps now.

while you are still wet, then pat dry the area and you will not get any razor burn.  Baby oil calms that sensitive area.  Madison

Actually, razor burn isn't funny, but we (women) have endured it for many years. The best is to make sure the long hairs are first cut with scissors, then shave going in the direction of the hair growth. Then -- if you have to turn the direction to get a closer shave -- make sure you've got good shaving cream (like Sensitive Skin for women). After the shower, do not use baby oil. That just clogs the pores. Use Aloe Vera Gel (99% proof at Health Food Stores). Also, if you can afford it, Colodial Silver works pretty good at healing cuts or rashes. Aloe will cool the area and heal it quickly.

Since you've never noticed looking around you, some guys with courser beards actually get these on their faces. It's worse in some ethnic groups than others, so you may not see a lot of redness with it.

I would apply things that take down the swelling and redness. Some kind of antihistamine cream, like for poisoned ivy. Hydrocortizone would be good, but since that's hormonal, you might think twice about putting that on your scrotum.

DO NOT put steroid creams/lotions on your scrotum (or face) without a doctor's input.

While some weak steroids may not be dangerous, "potent and superpotent agents--betamethasone dipropionate (Diprolene), clobetasol proprionate (Temovate), and diforasone diacetate (PSorcon)--have a higher propensity to cause topical side effects SUCH AS ATROPHY, STRIA, PURPURA OR EVEN ULCERATION, PARTICULARLY WHEN USED IN THIN-SKIN AREAS (PERIORBITAL AND GROIN REGIONS)..."  to quote a 21 year old article from the Western Journal of Medicine on "Contraindications for Using Topical Steroids".

Certainly this doesn't include the suprapublic (mons) area, where much of the razor burn may be. But it DOES include the scrotal sac and labia.

all kinds of remedies are listed on the board... just search under shaving...

Michum or any other Anit-Perspirant. Just one swipe it over the area you shaved, down there, to keep you from sweating and calm the skin.

It is the sweat that causes bumps and itching.
It is what I use after I shave also the next day because when your hair starts growing back it itches an if you sweat it itches.

If you scratch your itch you get a nasty rash.

That is how us women avoid razor burn.
