...then a private citizen after being bounced out of office after one term as Prime Minister, was invited to testify as an "expert" on Saddam Hussein as part of the Bush administration's attempt to gin up support to invade Iraq.

Netanyahoo's job was to beat the war drums to urge the US to overthrow Saddam.  He said if we took out Saddam, the young people of Iran would rise up and overthrow the theocracy.  This was his "expert" opinion:

”If you take out Saddam, Saddam’s regime, I guarantee you that it will have enormous positive reverberations on the region.  And I think that people sitting right next door in Iran, young people, and many others, will say the time of such regimes, of such despots is gone.”

Netanyahoo GUARANTEED it would have "enormous positive reverberations (in the Middle East").  How did that GUARANTEE work out?  How have any of Bibi's predictions worked out?

Bibi also had another great idea for regime change in Iran:

"If you want to advance regime change in Iran, you don’t have to go through the C.I.A. cloak-and-dagger stuff — what you want to do is take very large, very strong transponders and just beam ‘Melrose Place’ and ‘Beverly Hills 2050’ and all that into Tehran and into Iran, because that is subversive stuff. They watch it — the young kids watch it, the young people. They want to have the same nice clothes and the same houses and swimming pools and so on.

Netanyahoo has been fear-mongering for so long and has been wrong so many times that they had to dig up Aesop so he could rewrite one of his most famous fables.  It's now called: "The Boy Who Cried to Wolf Blitzer."

BTW, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee was Danny Burton, certified GOP nutjob.  He was known for his high moral character, going after Clinton for Paula Jones and Monica Lewinski, but of course he had to later admit that he fathered a bastard child.  Typical Republican hypocrite!

Burton also backed a quack doctor who linked childhood vaccines with autism:

Burton famously fired a gun at a "head-like thing" (probably a pumpkin or melon) in an effort to prove Vince Foster was murdered:

Bibi Netanyaoo & Dan Burton - cuckoo birds of a feather.

Netanyahoo's job was to beat the war drums to urge the US to overthrow Saddam.  He said if we took out Saddam, the young people of Iran would rise up and overthrow the theocracy.  This was his "expert" opinion:

They young Iranians tried to overthrow their regime
But they got no support

So they wer crushed, all of the opposition in Iran that took to the streets
They were rounded up in the middle of the night
Tortured and killed.

They begged Obama for help and he said
He wouldnt because he had to negotiate with
Their terrorist ruler

...Apparently, the Iranian youth were also napping since Saddam was overthrown in 2003 and the young Iranians didn't do anything with Dubya's help from 2003 to 2009.  Why not?  Because your post is totally wrong!  The young Iranians didn't listen to Netanyahoo's "wisdom" and rise up to depose their leaders following the US example in Iraq.

The Iranian youth protested the elections of 2009 and were brutally repressed.  Apples and oranges - it had nothing to do with overthrowing Saddam.  Welcome to P&R though, and thanks for posting.  But before you post again...get your GED.
