trying to justify today's problems, etc, by citing the past and re-writing history is childish. When has Obama or any of his supporter, ever taken blame for anything?
fact is the Dems under their exalted one has lost over 1000 legislative seats at all levels of govt. Can't find anything in history to compare. Even the couple of "accomplishments' are not supported by the majority...ACA case in point....and many 'changes' will be decried in a couple of years when the full negative impact is felt. Easily the worst pres in history. Carter, bless his soul, can now die knowing he isn't on the bottom of the list. Ask the unemployed, blacks, business, etc.....difficult to find any 'feeling gooders'............except the 1%-ers.......imagine that,,,,, the Dems are loved by the rich....

Obama and his policies. A total and unmitigated disaster:

"In fact, no president in modern times has presided over so disastrous a stretch for his party, at almost every level of politics."

...“It’s almost a crime,” Democratic Party Vice Chair Donna Brazile says. “We have been absolutely decimated at the state and local level.”

"Taken as a whole, these six years have been almost historically awful for Democrats. You have to go back to the Great Depression and the Watergate years to find so dramatic a reversal of fortunes for a party. And this time, there’s neither a Great Depression nor a criminal conspiracy in the White House to explain what has happened."

Ouch. So many broken promises, so many failed policies, so little support for ANY of his big domestic or foreign "accomplishments."

The "Hope" is gone and the "change" is Dems being booted out of office and replaced with a Rep

At least to me, anyway. It seems to be describing more a regression to 'business as usual', from the high point of everyone hating GWB and wanting a black president (and thus huge support for the Democrats) back to how you might expect the political landscape to actually be without those two giant factors at play. I might be misinterpreting it, but that's how it read to me.

The quote about being decimated at state level for example comes after this one: 'We won dozens of improbable congressional elections in states and districts that normally would tack Republican, and that effect trickled down to other offices. You add to that the fact that we would take office in the midst of the worst recession since the Great Depression, and it was apparent, from Day One, that we had nowhere to go but down.'. See where I'm coming from?

I don't see how this could be considered the most disastrous stretch in modern times for the Democrats, the president has been a Democrat for the last two terms. No?

The Republicans haven't had this large of a congressional advantage since 1928. It is historic in nature.

While you are correct that a certain amount of losses would normally be expected, the sheer and utter magnitude of the losses is the tell tale factor.

Look at Donna Brazile's quote. That will tell you all you need to know.

She is an Obama super supporter and she has worked for the D party her entire adult life, so she knows how historically bad this decimation of her party really is.

Right-wing nuts, would like to pretend the world started on January 21, 2009. When you folks quit having selective memory, I'll stop reminding you of G.W. Bush's disasterous legacy.

Some Bush Factoids:

FACT: Bush inherited a budget surplus - not a DEFICIT - and squandered it by cutting taxes while simultaneously launching two wars (Iraq & Afghanistan - typically taxes are RAISED - not lowered - during a time of war).

FACT: Bush CREATED a Medicare drug benefit program that was  - NEVER paid for -

FACT: Bush incentivized risky home mortgages to those known to be high-risk - that Wall Street then turned around and sold as secure investments - which led to a worldwide economic collapse.

FACT: Bush mislead the world about Iraq's WMD.

FACT: Bush condoned torture against all conventions and treaties.

FACT: Bush ignored the private sector sub prime bubble to the point banks needed to be saved.

FACT: The Bush administration OUTED a CIA agent after her husband revealed LIES they told.

FACT: The Bush administration FIRED several U.S. attorneys who wouldn't go after political foes..

FACT: Bush presided over 1.2 million jobs in 8 years. Obama in FACT added 3 million jobs in 2014 alone.

FACT: The DAY Bush TOOK office, the unemployment rate was 4.2%.

FACT: The DAY Bush LEFT office, the unemployment rates was 7%.

FACT: The unemployment rate TODAY under Obama is 5.3%.

FACT: When Bush took office the S&P 500 was at 1342.

FACT: When Bush left office the S&P 500 was at 805.22 (a 40% decline)

FACT: The S&P TODAY is 1970.

I hate having to keep reminding you all of Bush II's DISASTROUS legacy but these simply the FACTS.
