I'm never sure of the deal with indies, but I always see it as a win-win. The major problem in your case would be finding the right agency. A $$$$$ touring indy is out of place on a website that is mostly $$$. Their clients might not go for the extra. I will PMck in the day (two months ago, Lol) I wanted to join an agency but was rejected by quite a few.
Now I'm just wondering; are there any NYC agencies that actually represent AA providers?
Every now and then I see agencies with AA providers on the boards. Not sure if they are based in NYC or touring there but I have seen high end quality agencies with different races.Latina, AA, Caucasian etc.
