I started reading Poe as a schoolboy. I have heard his poems in my mind's ear for a long time. MY version of Poe is NOTHING like that reading, which I almost want to call a butchering.
Forget that it's a poem. Just read it like you're talking to someone.
hear you. I started with Poe as a schoolboy as well. There were many versions to choose from. I posted this one because it was so different. When I was a boy scout at camp there was a guy who every year narrated the Tell Tale Heart from memory around the camp fire. We all loved that!
So now I know that annabel lee is well regarded and we have a future poetry club.
