I was at my sixth M&G, and I was still having a hard time finding the "right" girl for an after party date.  I was determined to score one of those hot young blondes dressed in a shiny nylon tune sock, but I was having a hard time connecting.  
   
 Mercedes arrived early, we were old friends, we talked for a bit, and she asked what I thought of some of the girls. I told her what I was looking for, but I wasn't able to talk to them, they all seemed to be occupied with a small crowd of admirers.  Throughout the evening, every so often, Mercedes would guide a young lady over to meet me, some of the hottest ones at the party.  With each of the gals it was a similar routine, we would have a smoke on the balcony where they would chat with their girl friends while I got to stand next to them.  It brought back memories of high school.  Toward the end of the evening Mercedes sat next to me just to "check in" and see how I was doing.  When I looked at her I realized, I wasn't looking for a tube sock Barbie Girl, I wanted to be with someone who made me feel special.  
   
 And that is Mercedes specialty.  Her selfless attention to me that evening convinced me she was the one. When I finally asked her to join me after the party, she was totally surprised and honored. The rest of the evening was magic. We went dancing.  Mercedes positive upbeat energy spreads every where she goes.  At one point we met a waitress with a bad attitude, within minutes Mercedes style and humor turned this snarling waitress into a smiling hostess. It was like magic.
