As for living expenses affecting rates... are you joking???? I could work in upstate NY, CT, PA, NJ... get a hotel for less than $150 (got one today for $79). Pay minimal tolls. Free parking. In NYC... damn, I'm out $20 for tolls before I even hit NYC. 3- and 4-star hotels are regularly in the $300 range if not more. Parking fees are hefty, unless you want to park in the boonies uptown and then lug all your stuff on the subway (I've done that at times when my schedule allows for it. NOT fun on rainy days). (Also not fun when you return to a scraped or dented car) Plus, some clients do care about things such as ambiance... and, style, hair, shoes, etc. I'd personally expect a client to be VERY turned off if I hosted in a run-down or dirty place. But everybody is different... As for living here... sheesh! Rent is astronomical. Daily living expenses are higher here than anyplace else. I just watch they money FLY out of my wallet every time I'm up here (food, transport, entertainment, etc.). My cost of living is nothing compared to what it would be if I was in NYC every day. You'd better bet I'd raise my rates if I moved here again permanently.

I mainly avoid it in NYC because of the law enforcement threat, which is huge for me. That also means it's more expensive, and the providers (from what I can tell from photos online) less impressive.
Abroad, the girls are stunning and charge less, but a trip eats up a lot of time. It's gotten to the point where I have more money than time. Also, my recharge times have gotten longer as I've gotten older, so a local provider who I can see at regularly spaced intervals is better than holding out for a several-day splurge and trying to fuck every day twice or three times a day for a week. But again, there's the LE threat at home.
Should I put off a 4-day exploratory trip to Montreal for fun in NYC? Can someone compare the two?

A trip to Montreal will run me $200 for transport, $400 for 3 nights in a 4-star hotel, $400 to 2-3 girls, about $1000 total. Pros: A little adventure, see something new, it's all legal, hot girls.
What is a reasonable counter-argument to that for a similar expense? Does a provider hot enough exist in NYC? I suppose without the transport and lodging cost, that puts me in the $500 range for two visits to a provider.Any suggestions on who might make staying in NYC worthwhile?
(And yet, there is still the threat of LE, and if not that, then blackmail, and the fact that at $500 a shot, you're still taking a chance on not getting along with the girl, despite positive reviews. Abroad, at $200 or less, I'm more open to taking that hit.)
My trips to Germany every six months run me about $2000, and while I have to take a week of vacation for them, I think they're a pretty good tradeoff in terms of adventure, hot sex, beautiful girls, value, and avoiding legal issues. But I can't leave North America for awhile at the moment.

It used to be that many girls from Montreal would make regular trips to NYC, e.g., Montreal Girl Friends (defunct, I think). Do your homework and look for girls who work in both Montreal and NYC. Make your first trip to Montreal where you think you will be more comfortable to connect with them. Thereafter, wait for them to hit the Big Apple and see them when they are in town.
But see the other posts. You should be able to do just fine in NYC without the need for a trip to Canada.
