END OF MESSAGE

In light of the rant on this a few posts down, thought I'd start up something that wasn't an iso thread.

Any whisk(e)y fans out there? Any shops or whiskey-centric bars you recommend? What's your favorite dram?

A Japanese Bar, centering around scotch and other whiskies, hidden away in an otherwise plebeian Japanese restaurant.  If you can find the secret door (or ask the help to tell you where it is) you enter an elegant little bar with an amazing selection of Scotch.   It is located on 8 Stuyvesant St, which abuts 9th Street and 3rd Avenue, one floor up, unmarked door to the left as you enter

Vodka Menu:)

I am  an expert  in many tinctures and myself:)
 Know as many about  50..

And  THIS one - is just sooo sooo increasing .. blood flow and romance drive - would share now - make it home
those magic drops...
Peony root, angelica root, dogwood fruit, rubi, glossy privet berries and of course  horny goat weed)..
Horny goat( wink , wink - is main ingredient  for romance .. hahha )
So have have a bottle from dark blue glass and bottle of vodka  ( 100 proff vodka- Stolychnay  would be the best ..Or Everclear)..

Where I take those herbs? That is secret - I harvest them myself when moon is full :)

But ma be  just Russian Tea room to start?
 Check their menu on vodka

I dabble in vodka from time to time, when I can find one that is NOT made by one of the big boys (goose, stoli, absolut, etc.) there's one made in Brooklyn called industry standard which is crazy good, made from sugar beets (great for those with celiac issues) and priced on par with Goose.

Your...herbal infusion sounds intriguing. I've done infusions with basic things (your run of the mill roots and herbs that you find in the grocery store) and generally use a very high octane vodka in the ever clear genre to effect the infusion. Great for cooking. And cocktails

As to herbs - I do order them directly from Russian aptekas - way more fresher and not pricey and natural smell - yammyy. As to tinctures - those can be prepared and treat basicly any problem of human body - and high blood pressure and bad digestion and diabetes and low level energies and just as one of above - for romance :)
Rather then drink cocktails loaded with not healthy ingredients -raither drink one two no more then 3 shoots of those tincutres - nice if home made and from Russian herbs!
Those who want stay away from vodka - drink just herbs teas - I NEVER am buying those herbs teas - I made them myself - you would not belive how healthy those are!
As well - I do not do any smoking any 420 - yet - have vapes - few kinds - do you know that you cane vape certain herbs and have no less relaxing ( or energizing effect) as those people who smoke MAR?
Not smoking - just vape - as let's say - Lunch box - I have this one as well just for herbs - I love this old fashion lunch box - in case it is just hahah already fun and then as a ritual so inhale some herbs - I gave recipes of which herbs you can inhale - even for loosing weight - those which are in dieting pills.
Can build literally any kind of mood and not with MAR people are just do not know how have fun and seems as Mar is only one.. yet not many know that they can vape Horny Goat herb :) drink then this tea and have then massage with butter from natural oils with those herbs.
Woman can save their hair with simple mask -avokado with eggs makes hair instantly healthy and  as well as onions skin - red onion - if you will boil a bit of those and wash your hair it would be naturally red and hair will grow faster If woman wants ligher hair then she has - so honey wraps for few hours - and when wash hair add a bit of baking soda! Baking soda makes hair few tones lighter is you do it for a month as well as never bleach your hair in salon - use Lemon juice and walk on the sun - any way healthier then peroxide
Men do not like take care of their skin yet the best tonic home made and on vodka - from calendula and Cucumber.. but here vodka has to be diluted with Voda so not burn the skin - then few drops of Vitamin E oil for male face would be enough.
Man also has to take care about skin and hair and diet - I sooo love men who like eat healthy drink healthy be physical active - then mind and body just blooming with interests others then just dining out in non healthy burger places - speaking about burgers - I think not many know how beef is heavy for pancreas - it is bad idea eat a lot of beef - someone who ate a lot of beef - looking in VERY serious digestion problems - then you are going need to drink Russian Herb teas for few month and NO VODKA WHISKY at all
Go easier on beef pls Americans burgers - steaks. Oily cheesy dishes... overload with salt   and even those who are trying keep a diet and eats just beef stakes with no fries or side dish STOP eat beef few times a week. You do not have idea what it can be - in China they kill prisoners feeding them only with beef
So any way - need to stop my class how be healhty - just one more thing - about side dishes - there way more to it then just potatoes pasta rice -
Nobody east in states buckwheat or oats as a side dish there other grains I can t now recall in English - yet I have them all at my kitchen.
Stay healthy and  keep your body - In healthy body - healthy spirit
People do travel other countries to see the differences in diet and culture - yet new Yorkers have it all here under their noses. Yet seems many just do not care to know and learn and to use what NYC have to offer
Keeping this hobby in mind - I would start from taking you to Tea room first then to vape some Horny Goat herb :)

Seeking info about bars that serve fine single malts, or top shelf bourbons, does not qualify as an ISO.  This is one of the things we should be asking each other when we are on the road.

I wish I could advise a good place in the city where I could advise you to go, but it's a non-issue with me.  I know my favorite brands...Belvenie, either the 12 yr. Double Wood, or the 15 yr.  When I'm on the road and in the mood for single malt, those have been my goto's for almost two decades.  I either bring them along, or buy locally.  No one has ever complained... :)  As for bourbon, you'll never go wrong with Maker's Mark.

As for hobbying in NYC and seeking a new lady to see, the standard advice applies...do your due diligence, check the ads here, on Eros, P411, and other reputable sites, and make your own decisions.  Needless to say, reviews are your friends.  It may help to post an ISO if you know our market, but it may backfire if you haven't done your homework.   Caveat Emptor always applies.

my iso remark was a bit tongue in cheek regarding a lack of non-iso threads here of late. While I'm not a HUGELY active hobbyist, I save what little spare cash I have and spend it where I think it'll work the best for both me AND the provider in question (if "she" and I don't click, then everything else is irrelevant)

As for the scotchy scotchy scotch, I have amassed a Collection of around 60-70 bottles at home, but the on-premise locales can get some of the rarer stuff that a) are way too expensive for me to buy a bottle of (most of my collection I got in the early 2000s when the stuff was still cheap, or was a gift) b) too rare for me to "cash in my chips" with my favorite shop on the UES.

That being said, I must be one of the only people in the world that doesn't care for balvenie. I get a raw green pepper note in all their offerings that I find off-putting. On the other hand, I am a sucker for a Springbank

There are so many top-shelf single malts available here in NJ...despite that, I usually just stick with my favorites.  One of which is Oban...I am sipping the 14 y/o from my stash, and smoking a Davidoff Double R from my humidor...it's late Sat. night, and have appointments with favorite ladies potentially across May.  I'll give your reco a shot if I can find it, man.

A fine scotch is best served neat, with a fine cigar to compliment.  If you can share it with a lady who agrees...and they're out there...at least for a couple of puffs...they'll drink the nectar until... :)

And if we tell you the name of the game, boys....

I like whiskey -whistle pig is decent.
There is this small batch of gin called "Rusty Blade"... I know it's gin and your asking about whiskey but it's superb and worth a tasting.

Also, should you ever travel to SF ... Bourban and Branch is a fantastic whiskey bar!

Xoxo

Gin, outside of cocktail mixing, has been a challenge for me. I'll get there eventually, but typically look for something I can drink straight or with a splash of water.

I'd love to make my way to California one day--the booze is a helluva lot cheaper out there!--but I rarely get out of the five boroughs these days, between job and familial commitments

This gib is designed to sip slow.. I think you'd appreciate the taste.

I can understand limited travel because of work and family, hopefully you get to make it to California soon. 😎xox

Well, if I end up getting this new job, travel to see my suppliers would be part of the job, so ya never know

It seems stylish and trendy and I got a few shots of wiskies. Got excited. It is on 83rd.  and 2nd. Ave.. Worth to check out! Xo

The Irish prefer to keep their best whiskeys at home but you can sample many if you look hard enough

I generally drink at home and keep a bottle of Knappogue Castle for when I want to drink it straight. Red Breast is another good line but it is a little more earthy.

For my mainstay cocktail, I drink Jamesons with soda on the rocks. I prefer the taste over any Scotch, rye or bourbon I've sampled.

Ffor Christmas I received a Johnny Walker sampler - blue,  gold, green, platinum. I preferred all of the above over any in the sampler

I love those in area of W 59 on the way to Carnegie :)
Would share privately:)

With cigar it is amazing - I do not smoke otherwise -yet I can finish a cigar and half bottle of Double wood Irish Whiskey
Depends how I feel over billiard table. Sometime playing as a star putting all balls to the pockets  sometime need a teacher:)
