I wrote my post before reading his clarification.  In this particular case, I'd hold off and wait for more credible reviews.

However, I think my general point still stands.  She should be more careful to reduce risk to herself and her clients, but she should not be automatically rejected because of it - which is why I recommended checking the reviews also.

I recently contacted an independent and she
states that I can contact her to set up an
appointment but has asked for no references,
work number or any other info. Should I be
concerned about no background check or is this
typical for most independents ?

Run in the opposite direction!  This is not a good sign.  I'm guessing you found her on CL.  If a woman doesn't screen, she doesn't care about her safety either physically or health wise... and that's not someone anyone should see.

I insist on screening.  If she isn't asking for info and doesn't have reviews she's either really new or jut plain scary.  In this current climate stick with well-known and/or reviewed women who know how to screen.

Actually this person says they have been in
the hobby for only one year and they have only one posted review but not on TER. This person was
on EROS so I am just thinking that since this is
a paid site that the she could still be OK
The one review was good but I suppose any
provider can delete bad reviews.

You might be alright, but why take the chance when so many other good, well reviewed providers are around?

I started dabbling about two months ago and have at least six reviews on TER. One on ASPD and one on USASexGuide.  How does one go a whole year w/o one review on TER?

Stay away!  There's something rotten in Denmark.

She may be doing this part time with only 1 or 2 appointments a week.

This provider in question, what are her reviews like?

There is one provider I see who is very experienced, first with a reputable agency and has been indie for over a year.  She did not ask me for any references when I first contacted her and never has.  She provides great service and has a lot of great reviews.

A provider who does not ask for references should be more security conscious but it does not mean that she is LE or that she is a bad provider.

Yes, she is putting herself and her clients at more risk than necessary so you should go back to her reviews and your gut feelings and decide what to do, but don't just dismiss her out of hand.

If you want to know what provider I'm talking about, PM me and I'll link you to her reviews.

The only problem is that he says the girl has only one review; not on TER, which is fine, but it's been a year.

I know some girls don't like reviews and ask to not have them. After a year in the business though her screening process should be more thorough.

I assume PM must mean post message but I am
not in VIP status so I don't know if you can dirctly send a message to me without it appearing
on the board for all to see. In my introduction
email to her I did tell her a bit about me and
being somewhat of a newbie and she told me
to call for an appointment. She asked for no
references or verification and the one review is
not on TER. It is her one and only review from
2 months ago. I have not made a decision on this
one but since the ad was on EROS and the one
review appears- I am thinking it probably would
not be LE.

means private message.  Just click on the envelope icon next to my handle.

the more inexperienced the hobbyist, the more you need to rely on multiple reviews from multiple reviewers (who also have a number of reviews dating back over time).  If it sounds like a duck, it probably is a duck.  When in doubt, choose again.  Let the big head do the thinking.

It's still very important to screen.  As a new hobbyist listen to the more experienced hobbyists and the advice of a very smart part-timer!

But in reality many well known and well reviewed providers, indy and agency just don't. Should they? of course and I am the first to say they are crazy not to. But I hear others here saying things like run the other way, that is very foolish also.

Just stick to doing your homework and only seeing well reviewed ladies. Whether she screens you or not is her choice.

At about the time this latest post was added I
received an email from the provider who states
she keeps no consistent schedule and is on again
and off again is meeting clients. I obviosly made
no mention of this particlar discussion board and
the question at hand. Maybe this gives me more
confidence that she is legit in the fact that she
has only one posted review in  being in the hobby
close to a year. I suppose we all have to start
somewhere?
