Sal Anthony's Movement Salon - (Grammercy) The building is crazy. It's like doing pilates at Hogwarts. This may be a pro or a con, depending on who you ask. Their roster of time slots and instructors is huuuuge, so you're never left without options. For a more bootcamp style pilat experience I recommend Nwando. Yuko is also good, but a little less intense.
This is their main branch, but they also run Habitat and Pilates on the Square.

I've heard good things about New York Pilates but have yet to find the right instructor for me there.

In Williamsburg there is East River pilates, which is bright, airy and intimate, but not a tough workout. Good if you're getting started though and want to ease in.

Come to barre with me!
Gretta Gerwig is in my class, which makes it quite the New York experience. ;

I'm looking to do Pilates for the first time soon does any one suggest a good studio? Preferably below 30th street. I know that is broad but, I'm taking suggestions!
