In case I never said this before, WELCOME ABOARD!!!

And oh, you are no longer moderated!

An example for all you new hobbyists as to how not to contact a woman!! Geez, I can't even believe this.

I received an initial email as follows:

"saw ur info on hoh, u avail now?"

Hmm.. First off, I'm not in high school; I'm an adult. I would think you could take an extra ten seconds to write complete sentences and spell words correctly..? Second, who are you? And why would you think I could drop everything at 11:30 pm to meet a stranger with no screening info?

I responded politely, asking him to read my website and go through the proper channels for screening and scheduling, and he responded:

i live in ____
i am new to this
i am not law enforcement

To which I responded politely, I don't think I can help you. I did point him this way, and gave a few pointers for future contacts with providers, but honestly!!

Incidentally, I have received several such responses through HorH.. is this a trend? I just put my ad on there per someone's suggestion, as it seems to be more active for my area, but am wondering if that was not a good move!? At least the men who have contacted me through TER have been exceptionally polite and even the newbies have the sense to read my site and give proper introduction.. must be doing something right here! :)

Anyways, just something to keep in mind, as you want to make the lady feel comfortable and respected (and not have to prod you with thirty questions to get the proper information, lol)

Unfortunately, this has been my experience with guys who aren't from TER.  It seems that those who read the threads, process what is being said, and realize that the screening process is a necessity for both of us are rare gems.

Thanks guys!

Unfortunately the dumbing down of the American electorate as well as marketing to the ADD addled MTV generation has produced a modern techno-literate version of the historically loathed "Boorish lout".
Sadly Marea you will also find yourself fielding requests by guys who will adamantly refuse ANY form of screening (there are actually hobby/review/discussion sites that both preach and teach against submitting to screening).

Try too keep a positive frame of mind while learning how to quickly surmise and delete.

Marea,
I was interested in your comment that the men contacting you through TER were exceptionally polite . . .

I have only been in the hobby for nine months, and have used TER almost exclusively for my research.  I guess I am no longer a Newbie, but certainly not as experienced as most on this board.  I have met most of my providers in the Boston/New England area, but also try to meet new women during my vacation and business travels.  I always mention TER in my introductory email to independents, as I am contacting them because of their excellent reviews here.  I have noticed that TER is more or less important to the hobby in some other areas of the country due to activity in a specific area (or lack thereof) on local, regional or competing national board.  Interestingly, I have had two independent providers (one in Milwaukee and one in San Francisco) thank me for the information I included in my introductory email, and mention specifically that they like meeting TER members because of their polite correspondence and good etiquette once the meeting takes place.  So, yes, I agree TER is doing something right.

I have followed some of your thoughtful posts recently and viewed your website over the weekend. What a breath of fresh air!  My travels will take me to the midwest this summer, and I will definitely plan a stop in the socialist republic of Madison to meet you!

Thanks graydon, would love to see you in the Mad-city! :)

I agree- Not only are they polite, but I love it when a man mentions TER in an initial contact- puts me at ease, gives me an idea of the process and channels through which new clients are finding my services, etc. Plus it tells me that they have some basic knowledge as to how to go about things and have likely read my reviews, giving them a pretty accurate picture of what they can expect from me during our session. Always a good idea to mention TER when contacting a new lady! Also, I'm a pretty talkative I suppose, but I like it when the person writing includes more information rather than less- obviously you don't need to write an essay, and perhaps some providers prefer a shorter email and straight to the point- but my take is that a couple sentences letting her know who you are, what you are like, or complimenting her on her reviews or photos never hurt anyone! It's hard to get a feel for someone's attitude or intentions when they write one sentence (although I suppose their actual intentions are pretty clear... ;)

XoXo,
