Milos - Greek. Very impressive space. Lofty ceilings, and cement back drop. Extremely fresh fish.
The Modern - French / New American. Connected to the MOMA museum. Looks out onto the sculpture garden. Beautiful spot for lunch, chic spot for dinner
I'm visiting Manhattan in March and was wondering if I can get some foodie tips of a favorite new restaurant that the locals like? I prefer it be in Midtown but am up for an adventure to The Village or Brooklyn. Doesn't have to be a luxury sit down place, hey it can even be a food truck.

Delmonico's Kitchen is my favorite Steak house in the city. I think they are on 34th. Not to be confused with Delmonico's Steakhouse which is just as good in the Financial District which is the same one as in Las Vegas in the Venetian
Peter Luggers is the best steak house in the State of NY and they are in Brooklyn. Right over the bridge. They only accept cash and it's a once in a lifetime spot if you are coming into NY

For mid-town, here are a couple that I like: Cafe Un Duex Trois, Ca Va Brassarie, ViceVersa. In the Village, Blue Ribbon Brassarie, the Lower East Side, the Black Ant.
You can google each of these. There are so many out there, so have fun exploring

That's horrible! Hopefully nobody was physically hurt. That was the first restaurant I went to in NYC.

That is so sad, that was a favorite go-to spot for me. I hope they can resurrect it. Appreciate the heads up, Betty.
In midtown, try David Chang's Ma Peche, 56th Street between fifth and sixth, for cutting edge fusion, or any of his downtown Momofuko restaurants. In the East Village, I recently discovered O Ya, for extraordinary Japanese (not a sushi restaurant, it serves a variety of small dishes changing with the seasons, not cheap). In Williamsburg, Treif is fun, and I love the Jewish-Japanese mashup Shalom Japan, both are near the subway and are easy to reach by cab. And for steak, I recommend taking a cab over the 59th Street Bridge to Long Island City and M. Wells Steakhouse; not only amazing steaks but very cutting edge and original food combined with old time comfort food, an interesting mix.
I was recently cited the figure of over 20,000 restaurants in New York City, so there is plenty to chose from. Hope to meet you Raquel on your next visit.
I first learned of this style in Amsterdam but didn't get a chance to try it. I love the idea of mixing cultural food and am confident NYC knows how to do that. I'll check these places out, thanks!

Go to Quality Italian ... And get the bone in rib steak. Probably my favorite in NYC. And the Italian is quite good there too....
