Grenade launchers are also used to launch/deploy tear gas, non-lethal smoke, and camera’s to survey an area. I’ve never heard of any police department wanting, having, or using any type of lethal grenade.

As for bayonets, I cannot recall police deploying or even having or using bayonets, and I see no need for police to have them.

...video linked below.  You can't tell if it's Stillwater or Ramadi.  The militarization of the police is getting out of control.

Cities will still be getting surplus MRAPs because you never know when police vehicles will be attacked by IEDs.

What was he going on about before with bayonets, some speech or campaign activity?

The federal government is totally within their rights to make all decisions regarding which equipment they are going to sell or give any to state, county or local law enforcement.

But there are a couple of questions I did not see addressed by the article. Does Obama's decision comply with existing federal statutes? Does federal "control" end here or are there doors being opened that will allow or welcome other decisions not yet revealed that will result in a shift towards the federalization of state, county or local law enforcement?

...The events of Ferguson were at least escalated to some extent by the police force coming in armed to storm Fallujah?

Why on earth would a police force have or need vehicles on tank treads, grenade launchers, weaponised aircraft and all the rest of the alarming items noted in this article? Please, genuinely, someone explain this to me, I don't understand. Surely if the threat you are dealing with requires such force, it should be the military that's applying said force, not the local fuzz?

It's more of a we have issue. The leftists are the ones who promote recycling.

What is your position on police helicopters?

Police helicopters seem pretty damn vital to me, Joe Public, as long as you don't suddenly feel the need to mount guns on them for some unfathomable reason.
