...seven Southwest states with supposed "military training operation."

But he can't fool Texas Gov. "Hey Abbott!" who has ordered the Texas State Guard to monitor the military's shenanigans.  Abbott must be just as smart as his predecessor, Mensa member Rick Perry.

Screwy Louie Gohmert weighed in as well with his concerns:

"This military practice has some concerned that the U.S. Army is preparing for modern-day martial law. Certainly, I can understand these concerns."

"When leaders within the current administration believe that major threats to the country include those who support the Constitution, are military veterans, or even 'cling to guns or religion,' patriotic Americans have reason to be concerned."

And Ted Cruz showed his gravitas and that he will be an ever-vigilant president by saying:

"My office has reached out to the Pentagon to inquire about this exercise."

Do you go along with the far right and sell it as the Government plot to put everyone in Wal-mart concentration camps? You'll then end up feeding the paranoia of the far right. And those are the one that control a primary.
Or do you just go along with what it is, a military exercise and piss off the crazies..I'm looking forward to see how this plays out

The next time they need help from the federal Government.

I would remind them of their stupidity and anti government actions!

So no wonder why they have to cheat to win elections.

Quite appropriate for Texas!   ;)

Go long horns!  Hook um horns!

I don't agree with the conspiracy theorists, but a few things to consider:

- Special forces train in the best approximation of the environment they expect to be operating in. In  this case, the environment bears little resemblance to places like Afghanistan and the Middle East. Kind of raises the question of where the expected 1st world action is really targeted? The Asymmetric Warfare Center at A.P. Hill just got a new urban training center that similarly bears little resemblance to third world AO's. Hmmm, kind of begs the question of where preparations are directed? A little Eastern European nation bordering on Russia perhaps? Not a Left or Right question or issue at all.

- An urban detainment/detention exercise in Ft. Lauderdale was a sort of "kickoff" for Jade Helm. The military is actively recruiting "Internment/Resettlement" specialists. What area resembling Ft. Lauderdale do we expect to be operating in overseas, and who do we expect to be detaining and interning? Enemy combatants, terrorists, political dissidents? More indefinite internment a la Gitmo? Again, not a Left or Right issue at all.

- Neither Left nor Right has a good track record with respecting constitutional rights of citizens; the fundamental rule of law, since 9/11. Weakening of Posse Comitatus possibly infringing upon third amendment rights; can anyone doubt the erosion of fourth amendment rights given NSA (and virtually every other gov't agency) surveillance practices authorized unilaterally by EO? Same for the fifth amendment as we've seen trampled by federal and local governments and agencies across the country, and what does unlawful arrest and subsequent detention say about our sixth amendment rights?

So, do we not have good reason to distrust those in power who have demonstrated a deliberate will to reduce and violate our rights? If we have neither rights nor recourse, we are slaves.

As for Abbott? Good for him. Is that not an exercise of the rights of the people he represents and the state under the second, ninth and tenth amendments? Is he not expected to protect those other rights of the people of his state when faced with an unprecedented potential risk to same? It's not a Left or Right concept at all - we should all be concerned about protecting our rights.

No conspiracy theory. Facts and a single political theory: The selection of conservative states as "hostile" territory in Jade Helm is a deliberate Left to Right slap in the face. Absent the insult, would Abbott have reacted so vehemently
