Police departments need to take into consideration when hiring, "a majority " of out of shape roly-poly guys have lower self esteem than someone fit.
A couple more things I noticed about the Horseman beat down video and the aftermath, white police brutality on ignorant white boy thugs resisting arrest, doesn't sell well on headline news.
If that had been a Black guy evading police on a stolen horse and receiving a major beat down from white cops when caught, it would have been on mainstream TV and internet headlines 24/7.
That beating reminded me of the Judge Dredd beating RIP Rodney King endured.

I couldn't help buy notice the White Sergeant with the bullet proof vest, the guy that ran like a penguin, came into the picture long after the horse thief thug was clearly down for the count, yet he made sure to get some major blows in, to raise his low self esteem.
I also couldn't help but notice, the White thug receiving a major beat down from White cops didn't rile up the loyal bigots on this board.

Imposing size/physique, former military/military police, innate aggressive tendencies, history of being a rabid "team" player. All logical, rational traits and experience that would fit the common 'needs' in policing. But when a "brotherhood" of such similar types goes through their first years "policing" the county jail while serendipitously solidifying the said brotherhood an 'US against THEM' subconscious develops and a fascist intolerance and brutality easily evince. Add to the aforementioned the wide birth of police legal power as well as weaponry and you got the "power corrupts" idiom in HD.
It is to his and the media's shame that this incident in San Bernardino County Ca has not caught Rev Al Sharpton's ire; IT SHOULD! And it should raise ire as well as serious questions in every American citizen no matter what race, creed or color they are.

A little over 80% of local law enforcement officers have only a high school education. If you are in high school, and you have the grades, you're probably going to college, and really have no intention of joining law enforcement. On the flip side, an undergraduate degree is mandatory for the FBI.

Most officers do enter the force straight a few years after high school. I think most departments require a person to be 21 years of upon graduation from the police academy. The consensus is the human brain does not reach full maturity until people are in their early to mid thirties.

is the disbandment of police K9 officers. Dogs are an unnecessary element of policing. Had the police used a gun instead, the left would be demanding riots.
I've said this before.
They can be trained to sniff out things as benign as Cuban cigars, and if the dog barks at an otherwise minor traffic stop you can end up having your car torn apart. What a convenient and easily abused tool in this age of surveillance drones and asset forfeiture.
