I wonder why pointing out facts is racial?

Also the bigger problem is greed and companies bottom line!

So I do well for myself but the Wall street attitude greed is good.

This is like the bible for a lot of companies today.

They want low wages and low taxes!

Then they sit on their wealth and complain about poor people.

It's funny how they forget all of the welfare their businesses get from the government!

Ratio is white families 1 in 10 is receiving food stamp benefits roughly. Black families it's almost 1 in 3 receiving benefits. You posted the racial article...
The sad fact is as automation gets better and cheaper, mid level jobs will continue to decline. It's conceivable in that in 100 years there will be very little need for manual labor. So the situation is not going to improve over the next century. It's really not a racial thing at all and it sucks you try to make it into one. Uneducated people will find it harder and harder to provide for their families. It doesn't matter what race you are, if you don't have a degree or specialized skill set good luck ever making a living wage unless you simply work longer and harder. The days of a high school diploma and getting a job at 18 where you can afford a house and family in a few years are long gone. Race might make make it even more difficult but no one is immune to being poor in this country. Add in the fact that less than 1% of the population controlles 50% of the wealth and you compound it. Education can help but there are still plenty of college grads working for less then 30k a year.
So if you think who is getting food stamps is REALLY an issue you I'd say take a look at the bigger picture.

The fact that you went back to blacks using food stamps disturbingly disproportional says everything about you.

So I guess it bothers you hearing that whites use food stamps the most?

  Who gets food stamps?
The most recent Department of Agriculture report on the general characteristics of the SNAP program's beneficiaries says that in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, 2010:
••47% of beneficiaries were children under age 18.
••8% were age 60 or older.
••41% lived in a household with earnings from a job — the so-called "working poor."
••The average household received a monthly benefit of $287.
••36% were white (non-Hispanic), 22% were African American (non-Hispanic) and 10% were Hispanic.
Update, Feb. 5: USDA data understate these figures, however, because participants are not required to state their race or ethnic background. As a result, 18.9% are listed as "race unknown." A more accurate estimate of the racial and ethnic composition of food-stamp recipients can be drawn from U.S. Census data, based on a sample of households surveyed each year in the American Community Survey. For 2010, Census data show the following for households that reported getting food stamp assistance during the year:
•49% were white (non-Hispanic); 26% were black or African American; and 20% were Hispanic (of any race).

So mattradd every race is included in this story and guess who needs food stamps the most?

This is why when people go on stereotypes that look like fools!

And what he had to say about Statistics.

The Stats provided in the Huffington link are undoubtedly correct.  The article however, fails to mention that 72.4% of the U.S. Population is White, 16.4% are Hispanic and 12.6% are African American (see attached link).

Thus, by race, of the 47 million total food stamp recipients:
White:  18.8 million, out of 223.5 million US Whites.
Hispanic:   4.8 million, out of 50.5 million US Hispanics.
African American:   12 million out of 38.9 million African Americans.

Given the above, we see that the PERCENTAGE of African Americans receiving food stamps is disturbingly disproportional.

BTW:  I have no agenda, but I truly believe that half-truths and the "Big Lie" to more harm, in the end..

We could raise the Minimum wage. Isn't it a damn shame we have so many on Food welfare, the greatest country on the planet, yet cannot create real jobs for these folks. We would rather spend our tax dollars on expensive military equipment for the Pentagon, Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt and not a peep from righties.

When spend way to much money on other countries and protecting them.

I think it's time to start cutting foreign aid budgets.

Then people like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's will stop acting like a clown and worry about his own country!

Sir:
Your numbers are correct.  And, yes, at 72% of the US population, White recipients of public assistance will always outnumber other racial/ethnic groups.  Whites outnumber Hispanics 4:1, African Americans 6:1.

My point was that raw numbers are only part of the equation.
My math is correct (it's 3rd grade arithmetic not Calculus).
No assumptions were made.
And Yes, the fact IS that the percentage of African Americans receiving food stamps is disproportionally high.  I find this not only disturbing  but also appalling, in this day and age.   It should not be!  Don't you agree?

As a True Liberal (one who maintains an open mind) my only agenda here, is the truth, and unfortunately sometimes the truth is painfull. Name calling and providing only raw data is "Bush League Propaganda"

Cheers!

So the numbers I quoted are correct but you want to keep running to the poor old black folk? Lol

Also it's a problem across the broad, but black people get stuck with these stereotypes.

The articles are showing a bigger problem and not just stereotypes.

Thanks for the laughs and if you can't handle the name calling.

Then you came to the wrong broad.

The only painful truth is people of all races in this country suffer.

When a lot of the scumbags in Washington DC work for corporations and not US citizens!

It's no wonder why so many people keep the stereotypes going.

Just to keep people distracted from the real problem.

Said in another way; which population will be most affected, proportionally, by a cut in food stamps? It's quiet obvious

"It's funny how they forget all of the welfare their businesses get from the government!"

So, white people use food stamps more than anyone else? Well, I should think so. White people are 72% of the total population of the country.

So, wouldn't a better question be, "which race participates in the SNAP program the most?"

Let's see if we can figure it out! The article says that the race break down for food stamp recipients is:

40.2% white
25.7% black
10.3% Hispanic
2.1% Asian

According to the link below from the USDA, the total number of Americans receiving food stamps in 2014 was:

46,536,000

This would mean that the total number of people receiving food stamps by race is:

whites: 18,707,472
blacks: 11,959,752
Hispanics: 4,793,208
Asians: 977,256

According to this wiki page on the Demographics of the USA,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_the_United_States#Race_and_ethnicity

there are:

whites: 223,553,265
blacks: 38,929,319
Hispanics: 50,477,594
Asians: 14,674,252

Which would mean that:

Only 6.65% of Asians are on food stamps.
Only 8.36% of whites are on food stamps.
Only 9.49% of Hispanics are on food stamps.
And a whopping 30.72% of blacks are on food stamps.

Now, you know that Willy is never one to stir up controversy, but do tell me bigguy, why do you suppose that so many blacks are on food stamps?

No Republican ever said that there were more black people on food stamps than white people. They just say that there are too many and that is inarguable. They have also said that too high of a percentage of blacks are on food stamps and that is also inarguable.

That being said, those numbers are clearly bullshit. We all see who pays with EBT cards in front of us in the grocery store.

don't expect anything less from the Obama crowd. Look at his track record. W/o lies he probably would not accomplish a thing, let alone a thing of value to the country. Could never imagine a worse prez since Carter, but the O-man has done it. Add it to his 'accomplishments'.
