know what it is to feel homesick.
I never plan on going back to California, to live.
And it has always been my dream to live here on the East Coast.
But the strangest thing happened when I perused the S.F Regional board here on TER...
I became extremely home sick, thinking of that little city by the bay. Everything that makes Alexa who she is, is a result of growing up in the bay.

Sometimes following your dreams, means leaving everything familiar far behind.

I just want to share a great song as an ode to moving on with appreciation for things left behind!

I enjoyed watching and listening to the youtube of Sara Bareilles singing Dock on the Bay. Very talented, but nope, no Otis.

Hard to believe that Otis Redding died in a plane crash just 3 days after recording Dock on the Bay. He was only 26

nd I know this is a little left field but imagine if Ray Kurzweils theory of singularity had played a part in the preservation of not only the talented minds, but voices, of these musically inclined people. Shame they all had to go so soon. Would've been nice to have them around still, even if only through artificial intelligence.

The voice of Otis is preserved through his recordings, and that's enough for me

Great tune...a favorite since childhood!

Sitting on the dock of the bay, wasting time...i-i-ime!

She did a good job but I agree nothing touches Otis version.
Especially when it was recorded while he was sitting at the SF Bay.
I was born and raised in the Bay Area too and I do miss it but you live in NYC and that has to be a pretty different and exciting change of pace.Wherever you move to you will still be a Cali girl at heart:)

You can take the girl out of Cali butcan't take thd Cali out of the girl ;)
