Then the brilliant cops tried to stand Patel up instead of checking him for injuries. His legs wouldn't work - the cops trying to stand him up could have aggravated Patel's injuries, causing paralysis. Haven't they ever watched a football game? You don't move an injured person until you determine the extent of his injuries.
The incident was recorded on two police dash cams. Despite this, the thin blue line closed ranks around the criminal cop by lying about the incident at first. They tried to blame Patel by releasing a statement suggesting that Patel had been looking into garages and also trying to minimize the incident.
Finally, the cop was arrested and charged with assault in the 3rd degree and steps are being taken to fire him.

Police brutality appears to be pervasive across all state. Police have become merchants of violence instead of the Peace Officers they once used to be in a far, far way galaxy, long, long time ago.
As a citizen of free country one must question authority and hold them accountable otherwise the country will devolve into an imperialism controlled and benefitting few.

The courts and jury's have held bad cops accountable, but I'm sure you see everything one way like with the Ferguson shooting.
That’s how it works genius because they are sworn to do a job. When one of them go bad, it causes significant damage and breaks the social contract.

If the same thing has happened to you, your loved ones or to one of your friends; you will be yelling bloody murder and would not make the same statements.

but the PD fired & arrested the rogue cop, didn't they? In this case - seems to me - that AL police may come out of it looking not half bad.
So, we have assholes who enjoy & abuse power in all situations; they appear to be more visible among the cops.
Why aren't we railing about all the idiots who are incapable of handling guns and yet take full advantage of the fourth amendment? If only they would all shoot each other into extinction...
