No. of days from nomination to confirmation of recent AGs...

Janet Reno.........29
John Ashcroft......42
Alberto Gonzales...86
Michael Mukasey....53
Eric Holder........64
Loretta Lynch......97 and counting

Is it really a coincidence that the three with the longest time between nomination and confirmation are non-whites who were judged by an overwhelming majority of whites?

A few years ago they passed contempt of Congress proceedings against Holder and pressed Obama to force his resignation. Now with Obama's AG nominee, Loretta Lynch, being held up by the Senate Judiciary Committee, Republicans now have 5 more weeks of Eric Holder. Damn smart idea SJC!

Democrats are now increasingly slamming Republicans’ handling of President Barack Obama’s nominee for attorney general, accusing them of slow-walking the veteran federal prosecutor’s confirmation. Their newest evidence: the Senate Judiciary Committee’s decision Thursday to postpone voting on Lynch until after next week’s recess — which means she won’t get a final floor vote until March, at least five weeks after her confirmation hearing.

So I will let other people say it:

“There’s so many similarities between the Lynch nomination and the Carter nomination,” said Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), one of Lynch’s biggest boosters. “And to move Carter so quickly and to slow down Lynch is very troublesome, and I think they ought to move her ASAP.”

“I think that Loretta Lynch is being held to a double standard,” said Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT), the committee’s ranking member.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) spoke of another double standard: “I have never seen a witness in my 22 years do better at a hearing. … But I guess because [Lynch] is a woman, what I kind of object to is that she is singled out.”

The real reason the GOP scum really are delaying her confirmation.

Lynch would be the first Black female attorney general of the United States!

Lynch is being delayed because she would be the first Black female AG of the United States???  You really are a strange dude bigguy.

I'll bet you were pissed during the senate confirmation hearing of Condoleeza Rice as the first African American women Secretary of State!

Oh that's right, Black well-educated Republicans don't count in your mind.

So it's clear what is going on and other people know it too.

Also I was a fan of retired General Colin Powell but the rest of the GOP are clowns!

before he had to fall on his sword for GW. And, the Republicans lost a great opportunity to begin to win back the Black vote, when he did so.

doesn't matter.  Both of the same ilk, more concerned about illegals than citizens.  Her testimony was transparent to all.

Anyone who 0bama nominates is going to be the same. As far as he is concerned, the position is solely for the advancement of his political agenda. There is no chance of replacing Holder with anyone better. America's only hope is to replace 0bama.

socialist views for America and the Senate Judiciary Committee needs to be sure they will follow federal law and not their own liberal agenda.  Which btw was quite clear with her responses on illegals.

And it was the Democrats that postponed the nomination into the new GOP chamber.

Got it now, good.

...confirmation process due to racism or the fact that he was an unqualified POS?  Or maybe it was just Democratic partisanship, but of course there's no equivalent Republican partisanship with regard to Holder and Lynch, is there?

groups put a lot of pressure on Gonzales during the hearings.

But of course you'll explain it as racial discrimination because of his Hispanic heritage.

Nice that slurring him by calling him "Pancho".
