The rising star of the GOP is a jail bird!   Love it.    Should have gotten 15 years.   In any case his mug shot with jail suit will keep him out for rest of life.   Oh NO,  wait.    The Republicans will still vote for him if he becomes a candidate in an election.

J/K ....Most guys and gals here are too smart to fall for a suckers bet.  :-D

Ex Va. Governor Bob McDonnell will face sentencing tomorrow for accepting  $177,000 in loans, gifts and luxury vacations he  received while Governor, from a friend/businessman, marketing a dietary supplement.
McDonnell could receive twenty years prison.
I expect a  sentence of ten years with nine suspended, along with a few  thousand hours of community service upon his release.

On the other side of the coin/political aisle, most informed voters know why corrupt Cuban embargo supporter, New Jersey Senator Menendez, won't face trial  for violating Senate rules, failing to report $ 58,000.00 of free  trips to Costa Rica.
Similar to  ex Governor McDonnell,  Senator Menendez  accepted  personal gifts from a friendly wealthy political donor.
After an ethics complaint, Menendez quickly  paid back $58,500 for the two trips.

Anyone care to speculate how much time McDonnell will receive at sentencing tomorrow?

Anyone  believe Senator Menendez will face trial for his corrupt practices ?

I was wrong with my speculation McDonnell would only spend a year in jail.

or even more so. However, I don't think that's an excuse for letting McDonnell go Scott free. I'm hoping McDonnell's conviction will make all politicians less emboldened to to participate in corruption, though I'm not all that hopeful. Perhaps the difference in how each person has been handled has to do with McDonnell being a state politician and how his state handles such matters, and Menendez being a politician on the federal level and how prosecution is handled, there, in such matters.
