I am in research mode right now.  Have seen many providers asking for references.  If you have not had service before what references would one provide?  Another question, why are many asking for place and # of your work?

I am married so being discrete is paramont for me.  Also concerned about LE.

Any tips on who/where a a newbie can see to get some "experience"?

whether or not you are a police officer attempting to entrap them.

Your concern is understandable and certainly was a concern of mine when I was first asked for this information; however, as long as the provider has good references on here or other boards, then you needn't be that concerned about it.

There are some providers who will see gentlemen who have not seen other providers before.

The best way to go about this is to write to them and be sincere and forthcoming with your personal information.  If they get a comfort factor with you, the odds are good that they will see you.

One agency asked me for my main switchboard and extension at work.  They wanted to see if I had a "real job" and was not LE.  I gave it to them, they called it, and I have had no hassles since, but I can see how it could get really bad.

Why don't they think LE couldn't just set up a phony workplace number...?

It just isn't time/cost effective.

If LE could count on gobs of cash and property seized in "asset forfeiture" they would be setting up phony workplace numbers by the hundreds.
A misdemeanor bust yielding a $500.00 fine, 3 years unsupervised probation and a one bedroom apartment furnished with Ikea furniture is not a priority.

LE gets tough on prostitution when a complaint is made by the citizens or the local DA is up for re-election and he needs some more "conviction rates" to pad his record of "tough on crime" public service.

. . . info for their physical safety and LE prevention.

I ask for a reference and if that isn't possible, then a business # so I can call and ask for you anonymously.

I understand that discretion is important to you, just as it is to a provider.

Your best bet is to find a well-reviewed provider here on TER.  It would be HIGHLY improbable that such a provider would ever call your place of business to cause you problems.

Good luck!
