The Second Amendment has already been substantially watered down, repeatedly by The SCOTUS.we take away guns from all the domestic violence abusers? What will happen to American's constitutional rights and freedom if guns are taken away. Does it matter if he was a law abiding gun owner gone bad or a habitual domestic abuser who could get his hands on a gun?

Personally, I agree about gun control. But it's too late. The country is awash in guns and no one is going to be able to simply take them away. It's much easier to get a gun illegally in this country than legally. So personally, I'm going to protect myself by getting a legal gun. LE officers are by definition "trained observers" on occasion all the training and observation can not guarantee they won't get killed on the job by a person wielding a firearm. Have you ever noticed how these incidents are described in the media as an ambush killing?

1.) - My post was highlighting the fact that "trained observes" can fall victim to a lunatic which posses the tolls to cause bodily harm and or death.
2.) - Individuals especially adults need to take responsibility for their surroundings, the company they keep, and the situations they put themselves in. This comment is in lieu to people who maintain relationships involving domestic violence, who depend upon a third party to intervene in their narcissistic dysfunctional relationships. Adults shouldn't need babysitters.
This particular incident has more to do with mental defectives than it has to do with firearms.

The first obvious question is, "If you are the one locking up the guns, what is to prevent you from simply unlocking them when you want?" Does the Constitution define us? If we rewrote it, would that mean that our country ceased to exist?
Is our country the geographical space it takes up? Or is it the sum total of our citizens, good and bad? Des anybody live a life dedicated to being a good example of who we are as a nation? A citizen role model?
We have taught a lot of our people to fear liberals because they might lead us into Communism. So they think they need guns to protect them from such evil, but that wasn't at all what we had in mind. Our failure is that it isn't enough to train them to do work and reward them with a living. If we could trust religious leaders to keep them in line it would be very nice, but we also want them to be free to choose their religion, and there are too many sects with too many conflicting doctrines. We can't even keep them all healthy. So they are going to get guns and from time to time shoot each other rather than fitting into the mold set up for them. But ain't that what America is? A place of limited conflict resistant to change? How can it not survive?

Clever attorneys/lobbyists have been watering down most of the language of the Constitution for 238 years, making 'The Bill of Rights' a joke among the current ruling class. But as long as the citizen has a "Right" to own guns there is a helluva obstacle keeping the "ruling class" from becoming despotic. As well as a road to regaining the 'Rights' we have foolishly let slip over our relatively brief history.
I wouldn't say guns are an unnecessary element of the American landscape, or that we should disband the second amendment. However is a firearm the most futile piece of hardware when every resource financial, natural, and spiritual is regulated by government oversight?
