You have a compulsive habit of spewing screw ball, completely false information.
If you don't have a clue, you shouldn't act like you do!
You make yourself look like an utter fool .

In many cases there is no sign of mental illness until the age of eighteen.
The average age of depression is early thirties.

The first signs  of schizophrenia and bipolar disorders  usually start to appear in the late teens and early twenties.

If Holmes was showing signs of mental illness when he was living at home,  it's possible his parents didn't notice  since his Dad is a scientist and his Mom is a nurse.
Quite often, people in high pressure fields  become so absorbed in their work they don't notice their surroundings.

A mentally ill person does not have the same right as you, supposing you are a sane person. You cannot sell a weapon to a mentally ill person by law (identifying them is a different issue). As society, we should make parents responsible for treating mental illness Afterall, the symptoms show way before they are 18.

As far as what they tried carp, there should be a database of mentally ill person so, they cannot buy Bushwhacker or whatever it is and go on mass shooting spree and kill.

They say he is mentally ill and not a monster.   Give me a fucking break.   Are they saying there were no doctors who could treat him, no mental institutions where he could have been locked up.

Where was parental supervision of a mentally ill person?    Don't blame the Federal Government as we are a capitalist country.     There is health insurance available and why did not the parents obtain one.

They waited till he bought the weapons and ammo, broke in to a movie theater from the back door (he knew he would be caught at the main entrance!  so much for mental illness) and killed twelve innocent human beings and injured 70+ people.

My last question?   Why the LE did not take him down and ended his misery

until there is significant indicators that he is a threat to himself or others. Second of all, you have no idea what they tried, what he tried, etc. Third, health coverage for mental health issues is significantly less than for physical health issues, despite parity.  And, the limits of service are greater, which creates a great financial and emotional hardship for the parents of a developmentally or mentally disturbed individual; who's problems usually start at an early age. Fourth, even governmental agencies and school systems, who are mandated to provide testing, screening, assessment of said individuals, fight tooth and nail to withhold services due to lack of funding and staff.

So in short what I'm saying is, you are taking a terribly complex situation, and talking in very simplistic terms, while using the words of what many parents would say if their child was in the same boat. They may well be culpable for his behavior, and failed to get him the help he needed, but without a lot more information, I wouldn't want to make that call.

regarding onset of mental illnesses beginning in late teens and early twenties. And, include those, right on the cusp of mental illness, then experimenting with very powerful street drugs.

Many years ago my brother was a crazy person, to put it bluntly.

He was threatening and hallucinating and shouting at invisible people.  We tried tto get him committed, but it was almost impossible.

In CA they had the Letterman Prentis (Spelling may be off) Act that was designed to protect the civil liberites of people who were having mental issues, to be polite.  That is when it became impossible - for all practical purposes  - to force someone to get help.

The parents (or family) can do very litttle.

I  just  saw this again two years ago with a neighbor whose son was exactly like my brother.  They called the cops and the kid, who is schizophrenic, snaps into "Can I help you officer."

The cops leave and Looney Toons was back in 20 minutes.

If you want the parents to be able to do something, give them the means.

As someone who fought (and lost) that battle, I know it is almost impossible to "get help" for someone who does not want it.

Holmes born in 1987, well over 18 when his mental condition began to surface. He was not living at home.
In 2010 he was a member of several  honor societies  in neuroscience, graduating  in the top 1% of his class.
Holmes had seen several psychiatrists  prior to the shooting, why do you not blame them.
A month before the shooting one of his psychiatrists  reported to campus police Holmes  had made homicidal statements.  Why not blame them?
Holmes had received  $21,600 grant from the National Institutes of Health why not blame them?

The police did not shoot Holmes because he was not aggressive , no longer  threatening anyone, when they arrested him.
Police won't shoot unless they feel their lives are in danger.

He had already shot and killed 12 and injured more than 70+,   The cops thought he was no danger to them?

Give me a break.

He was standing unarmed, the police actually had mistaken him for a swat member. You think they should have just shot him??
