Paying "for" something infers an expectation of something for money. A large "tip" subsequent is simply a gratuity.

Interesting article on Yahoo News today regarding the above.  Northern Ireland joins Iceland, Sweden, and Norway in outlawing payment for sex, meaning that the provider isn't charged as prostitution is legal, but the hobbyist can be sentenced up to one year in prison.
