Inflation in NYC. It isn't getting any cheaper to live or stay here. My rent is through the roof. Hotel rates are through the roof. Many girls are also trying to save money to go back to school or they are supporting their families financially. I have been out of the scene in nyc for over a decade. While there were premium priced escorts available in the early 2000s, a guy could get a very goodlooking woman at about the $ 300 price point.
So I come back and check around to see fees of $ 500, $ 600 and more to be fairly common, as well as two hour minimums.
When was the barrier smashed? Did the scene in NYC get more affordable in 2009-2012 when the economy was in the tank? The economy is still not firing on all cylinders now, but did prices go down?
I don't care what the girl looks like, but $ 800 for a romp is just too rich for my blood. There, I said it. And I'm not cheap. It just sounds like I am.
It's called bifurcation. Goods and services are either being priced at a premium or at a discount. If good deals are to be found, price relative to quality, it's in the brothels and amps. My advice would be to watch and get a sense of the market and develop a favorites list.
There are plenty of good looking women at the 300 price point that you mention. The women on the "high end" ad sites have tended to have the prices go up by about 100 in the past dozen or so years, since I started. But that's fairly equivalent with what I imaging has happened to hotel prices. There are plenty of agencies that are still in the range you are looking. As well as women advertising on the lower end ad sites

You can blame both the certain men and certain ladies here for some of the ridiculous lobsided rates.

When men continue to do business and not report scores accurately, it affects the $$$ curves.
Stop doing business with unattractive ladies ( we all know who they are here ) they rates may actually drop affecting the $$$ rate cost of the attractive ones.
I know everyone have different fetishes but I have not heard of a fetish towards ugly women, if that was a fetish then why are almost all ladies using highly photoshopped and cleaned up photos?
Imagine if sports illustrated paid Emily Ratajkowski and Rosie O’Donnell ( sorry Rosie ) the same rate to do a photoshoot or Robin Thicke paid them the same to be in his music video. I am sure Emily and every fucking normal human being even women will call that ridiculous.

This is a fucking overrated Profession, wonder these providers deserve to be paid 600/- or upwards for an hour when you look out in Market for other Profession/services where one has to literally slog out to make that kind of money . Guys got to have due diligence what they are paying for and there is a need to optimize this market.

My Manhattan rent is $3000/mo and apt is the size of a shoebox. One sack of groceries at whole foods costs $100. A decent (not luxury) hotel costs $200-$500+ depending on the time of year. Advertising? $1000/mo MINIMUM. Photoshoot $3000/bi-annually. Plus the routine maintenance costs to be an attractive, stylishly dressed, coiffured, manicured young woman? Ooh ooh! And the cost of healthcare too!

Providers charge over $500 when hobbyists are willing to pay over $500. I also think technology might be a factor as well. Back in the early 2000s advertising online was just starting to become big and many women didn't have websites and multiple places to advertise. Now it seems there is an entire industry catering to providers giving them a way to reach more people, which allows them to charge more.
