I'm going to be working in Canada several months where the local options for this kind of company will be limited. I'm thinking about maybe inviting a lady from the states or Europe to meet me there but was wondering what the complicating legal issues might be
As I recall, it is incall and bordellos that are banned.
In any case, if the gal you are meeting is someone you already know, or is someone with good reviews, etc., then you should be fine.

Canada (for me Toronto area) is my companion playground and after law against incalls declared unconstitutional most of the huge agencies opened lots of incalls in major cities.
C36 no problem since most major police agencies follow the harm reduction model of the Supreme Court and don't bother in private consenting adults. Zillions of huge totally legal agencies, zillions of reviews and with the $US advantage far less costly than in the U.S. About 160/hr for beautiful companions at nice incalls lots of pictures and info on agency sites etc. Most cities similar, Montreal great if you know French !
Alberta a bit more conservative.
