Help me out with this.

I don't understand how this answer helps her at all.

The republican leaning voter thinks she voted for Obama but no real harm as she wasn't going to get too many of those votes anyway.

The Democrat leaning voter is pissed that she won't proudly say she voted for Obama.

And the Indy/moderate/undecided voter thinks she has no conviction or has something to hide by not answering.

How is this non answer smart, politically speaking, for her? Who could it possibly help her with?

Whether you are in sports, business or politics, there are "gotcha" questions. In this case, her campaign manager, and inner circle, probably grilled her on every conceivable question that will come up, and that was one of them. If she answers Obama, that puts her in a defensive stance. She deflected it, and gave a different answer.

How many voters actually watch Q&A with a reporter or debates, and if so, will they remember?

Remember the movie Bull Durham? The team is winning and happy, and the Tim Robbins character wants to learn more. So his catcher and mentor, Crash Davis, tells him he needs to learn his cliches. No different in politics. Keep it short simple and don't answer any gotcha questions.

And if you want to win, wait until about 2 weeks before the election, and release dirt, true or not, on your opponent. Worked in California when Meg Whitman ran against Jerry Brown for Governor. Magically a disgruntled Mexican maid appeared, and that was that.

My initial reaction was, why won't she answer the question. But then, I remembered, most politicians refuse to answer that question. There was, recently, a politician running for office, who denied voting for and sponsoring a bill he's on recorded as sponsoring.

IDK ST Croix, this isn't really a gotcha question, imo. It is as straight forward as it gets. I think she made it into an issue, no?

The reason the question was asked in the first place is that numerous voters video taped her out in the streets not answering the question when they posed it to her, and it became a story for the press.

By her dodging it again and again and again, I cant really see how that strategy works. I think it would have been better to say she voted for Obama but then tick off the 4 or 5 things he has done that she would have done differently but you could be right.

In a Democracy voting is supposed to be "secret" and not public.   That is the reason it is called "secret ballot".

Asking someone in public for whom they voted is stupid and can only happen in this country!  LOL.

Asking someone in public for whom they voted, is called FREEDOM of the press.

The person being asked can answer or that person can decline to answer. That is called FREEDOM of speech.

Apparently you do not think much of our Constitution.

BTW you have the FREEDOM to move out of this country any time you want……..The sooner the better IM

If you don't understand 'secret ballot' you don't understand democracy.    Individual freedom trumps freedom of the press.

All polling stations in the country are set up to make sure that my ballot is not seen by another person.

Understand Secret Ballot, which is why I said that the person being asked has the freedom to DECLINE to answer.

If you do not understand that some people want to Exercise their FREEDOM of speech and tell others how they voted, then YOU DO NOT understand Democracy.

Again the press has the right/FREEDOM  to ask.....the person being asked has the RIGHT/FREEDOM to not answer or the preson being asked has the RIGHT/FREEDOM to answer...it is a WIN/WIN situation.

Apparently you like to take something and dishonestly distort and twist the truth into something it is not, and to the point where your version is a total lie.

BTW when will you be moving out of the country?

I still say asking someone in private or public whom they voted is rude and stupid.   If it has happened in public, it can only happen in this country
