He was not in danger of his life and didn't fire in self defense. That's the way the jury saw it. I assume they made the right decision and am not surprised.

Almost all murders have some sort of motive. If you kill someone and claim self defense you better hope and pray there isn't a motive that can be pinned on you. If you know the person stand your ground gets harder, if you are physically bigger, younger, there are many considerations. If the person who is shot lives and provides motive. If you are not permitted to conceal and carry and are in public. Let's just start with the last thing 99.9% of people want to do is kill someone, for whatever reason.
