I am so sorry to head about the heavy LE activity in your city. These businesses have operated for many years, and seemed to be well tolerated by the local community.

If this were Los Angeles, I'd say it would be about the $. But it's about politics.

A spa owner and I had drinks last time I was in town, and he felt that his business would not be tolerated much longer. He wasn't specific, but things were just going too good for too long a time.

In my experience, when people are having too good a time, people with political capital come in and spend it. It's just an exercise in power, nothing more. I know W is your guy to many of you (and I'm sure in his youth he could tell you a thing or two about the Spa and SC scene there), but a lot of this is about flexing and his, ummm, values. It may go a lot higher than the new C of P.

Compare the (former) Houston scene with the LA one for a minute. Things were much healthier there, with lower prices and higher standard quality of service, with emotionally and menatally better adjusted providers.

Just tell me where the send the flowers. :w
