And this article/video precisely illustrates the problem with policing in our country.  These cops in Britain found another way of dealing with a dangerous suspect without resorting to deadly force.  While these cops were in a dangerous situation, they were controlling the suspect and acted with restraint.  Why don't our cops act the same way, because in some cases they have no regard for the lives they take, they won't be held accountable and the first rule of policing is ingrained into their psyche.

That may be changing now bc of the ISIS threat but I remember the last time I was over there they had no visible guns. So to say that they are solving citizen-police encounters “without using deadly force” while true is a bit misleading.

Check out G.B’s gun laws if you want to see why this works over there and then compare them to our insane gun laws.

Do you really want to send our police out on the streets without guns, given that so many criminals are armed with assault weapons and even good citizens are carrying in many states?

And you kind of ignore that so many of our officers are now with equipped with Tasers which is the perfect non-lethal way to deal with many suspects who resist arrest. My guess is that if Michael Brown had not charged Officer Wilson in the first instance, Wilson would have drawn his Taser rather than his gun and that tragedy would have been avoided. This  is another reason why I tend to believe Wilson's story

No...I do not want to see our police disarmed.  I recognize that aerie are societal differences and having police carry guns is appropriate.  I want our police to quit dehumanizing U.S. Citizens. I want the us vs them mentality that police have today eliminated. I want police to stop using the law the steal from citizens to fund their departments or the municipalities in which they work. And finally I want our police to stop using deadly force simply because they are afraid.

And you are quite incorrect about taser use...they can be deadly in certain circumstances and police regularly abuse their use.  I can point out video after video of police unnecessarily using tasers to either prod or just plain abuse suspects. We have tasers used against children and I'm not talking about teenagers, but minor children, because police are ill equipped to handle volatile situations or choose to use tasers as a means for compliance and control.  Not to beat up on the NYPD, but the ACLU report is a good read.

One leads to another. You can’t walk into a department store and walkout with a rifle or semi-automatic in UK and in many other democratic countries not even in, developing countries.

Guns Everywhere is uniquely American and even though, we claim to be a first world country; we still need guns to protect our family and property in this bandit country.

The damage that too many young, out of control African American males do in our society is staggering. Where is your outrage about them? Black on black crime IS the problem in our big cities NOT the occasional shootings from the police.

An African American is 50 times more likely to be killed by another black then they are at the hands of the police. But your far left view won't even allow you to acknowledge that fact.

No, you would rather just dump on the brave people that put on the uniform who put their lives at risk every single day so you can stay safe.

Just once let me hear you rip the AA community for all the damage they do to society in great disproportion to the size of the population they make up and I'll listen more to all your cop hating bullshit.

I'm waiting DA.

The police are trained to be a bullying brotherhood of homicidal thugs. This is vindicated by the full militarization they have received in recent years along with the abrogating of the citizenry's Constitutional Bill of Rights via the Patriot Act.

if a black, sensationalist, media muck-raker and a white, innocuous, middle class raised citizen both recognize it.

That was getting old anyway.

Maybe you could go be a community organizer for him? It's great work. Tons of bogus charges against the police, you're on TV all the time and facts don't matter as it's all race based re: who is innocent or guilty.

You'll fit right in.

Just hit up BP for his cell.

I would relish a job where I could spotlight abuse of power by police and their superiors. It would certainly be more ethical and moral than any job working FOR the current and wholly corrupt police cartel.

The Huffpost always has racially biased
news stories, at the end of the story thay
mention 5 black men killed last month, but
they mention nothing of the non black people
that are killed--- that definitely is a racial bias.

And we don't know the statistics on violent crime
in England, and did you notice it took 30!!! cops....

We can't be doing that with those numbers, in my
opinion the guy is a menace and dangerous to
innocent people and he should have been shot...

We either support the  perpetrators and predators
of society or we support the use of deadly force
to contain them...

I support deadly force...

The police in this country are chicken feed.   They are afraid for their own lives.    At the drop of a hat all they can do is shoot and kill.    Then come up with standard excuses:

First look, determine his race!

1. I thought he was armed
2. He put his hand in his pocket
3. He lunged forward and I was scared he will harm me
4. He was running away, so I had to shoot him in the back
5. He was too big and tall for me to handle, so I had to shoot him

Funny, mass shooters armed with assault weapons and hundreds rounds of ammo however don't pose a threat to these cops.    Those shooters (Tucson, AZ & Aurora, CO, school shooter in Ohio etc.,) are taken in to custody ALIVE!
