That type of bathhouse that you described is absolutely, 100% NOT gay.   Not that there are no gay people there (who would really know??), but it's basically a completely asexual gathering.  It would be like expecting extras at a pizzeria.  I've been to a few russian bath houses in Brooklyn.  And it's just a place to spend the day and sweat your balls off.... But that is ALL that will happen to your balls.

A female friend of mine who worked in NYC for a number of years mentioned bath houses that had great steak meals and "extras" you could negotiate with the female staff members. This was after we had watched the movie John Wick which had a bath house scene. I mentioned that my impression was that bath houses were primarily for gay men.
My Google search results seem to reinforce my opinion.
I'm asking if anyone out here can add any additional information.

Bath houses are not for gay men or women. Turkish/Russian bath houses are like a social club for men to relax, take in a hot sauna and have a beer.  I go to one in Forest Hills which is a Russian bath house but have not frequented enough to know if they offer "extras".

I started going once every 2 weeks for the sauna and a few laps around the pool.  BTW, it is a co-ed bath house and will often find a mix of older and younger groups and couples

Went to a Turkish bathhouse in the East Village about a month ago, with one of my favorite ladies at her suggestion.  There were roughly even numbers of men and woman.  Nothing gay about it.  Next time we'll try the Korean variety.  Should be fun...not to mention a nice warm-up!    ;)
