...now to read 400hr+ is too high is sorta funny. Usually when I read rates are too high threads it just really screams to me "I'm mad I don't have enough to afford this as much as I want".
I have been considering taking a sabbatical from the hobby myself. It's putting pressure on my finances. The hunt for the right price point for the right gal is tough enough, but then scheduling on my restricted time scale as well as dealing with disappointments after all that has me disheartened. Traveling to NYC to hobby is rough and the LI scene is mostly BP or visitors who are out of my price range.
I know the gals are in it to make money. If they feel they have to charge exorbitant rates to stay in business and enjoy the lifestyle to which they are accustomed, then good for them. Have fun. It just won't be with me. I wish I owned a Ferrari but I know I never will. I wish I had the money (and the time) to go on 3 month long vacations to Hawaii or Europe or Fiji. I wish I had the cash to spend but I don't.
I came to TER a few years ago, a lifelong monger who has seen ladies for pay since I was 19 years old. (I am in my 40's now) Not always the best quality ladies but not always the worst either. I've seen gals in Queens, Brooklyn, Long Island, Manhattan, upstate NY. Some gorgeous GFE's who were worth way more than I spent and some downright horrors who weren't worth half a cent over the years. I have grown as a hobbyist and have refined my tastes to the upper end of the scale. (Who wouldn't give the choice). I no longer use BP at all. Haven't in over a year. Yet there are still one or two ladies I have met that way that I remember fondly and sometimes still call. I may have only 11 reviews on TER but my numbers are probably closer to over 500 or 600 in 27 years. (Always been safe, tested regularly) Does this make me a male slut? I don't know, maybe. I've probably spent more in the hobby than I should have or else maybe I'd have a better financial situation now.
My problems are not your problems. My situation does not dictate your prices. Yours does.
I always try to be the nice guy. I usually get burned but dammit I'm not a bad boy and never will be. Hobbying is my way of getting the sex I crave on a more regular basis than my wife is willing to give. If I'm paying high prices, I'm not getting more, and I might as well stay home and masturbate. Get divorced, find somebody else who fucks you more often... Nope. I'd be financially ruined, not to mention the fact that even though she's not an overly sexual being, my wife is my best friend in the world. When she's hot for it, she's the best lay in the world... She just usually isn't. Likewise, I've got kids, don't wanna break up the family. So my UTR fucking around in the hobby is what has kept my 16 year marriage strong actually. Maybe I'm fooling myself. Whatever.
This post has rambled on far too long. Fact is if I could find a regular lay (for a reasonable price) in my neighborhood with NSA I'd quit the hobby tomorrow.

If you think our rates are bad try paying 400 so you have a nice hotel room to see your client in. I'm a big believer in atmosphere being a huge part of your appointment. It costs quite a bit of money to have a lovely appointment. If a girl is charging less she is probably seeing a high volume, and there goes your laid back no rush session.

No one is underpaid or overpaid. Pay/rates are determined by what someone offers and what someone accepts. Period.
It doesn't matter if its a fire fighter, a teacher or a hooker.
Everyone is paid exactly the right amount.
I have been in this for 12 plus years and I should be the one complaining but I am not. Its just the way the economy works out now. We think the ladies are just being greedy but we forget to add in the cost the ladies have it pay out for them to be providers. They have to pay for advertising, photos, ter membership, lingerie, apartment rent, hotels, airfares and so on. So yea, it would be nice to have those "old" rates in the past but that is not going to be a reality in this market today.
When I started :
a GFE hr session was around 300, PSE hr session 500-600, Pornstar date 1000ish , 4 star hotel 150-200ish, apartment rental 1000 a month and a gallon of gas $1.40ish
Now:
a GFE hr session is around 500, PSE hr session 800-900, Pornstar date 1000ish , 4 star hotel 350-400ish, apartment rental 2500-3500 a month and a gallon of gas $4.00ish
Thinking back to those old days, I still remember one group of guys complaining about rates and the rest of us rounding up the money and thinking if we should or shouldn't see that lady. Not much has changed from the past. You either pay the lady or watch free porn on the net.
I will conclude that everyone should appreciate each other. We guys need to appreciate everything the ladies do for us guys, they put in a lot of their own money and time for what they offer us and we need to thank them. I too have seen the average price go up in the few years I've been in the hobby. I guess it boils down to supply and demand. Perhaps this is a sign that we are starting to crawl out of the recession of 2008. Wouldn't be surprised if economists are using escort prices as an indicator of the economy's health--a backroom indicator.
Been burned by low price providers as well as high price ones too. You just have to look more harder to find that provider who offers the service you want at an acceptable price point, which takes longer these days.
