Current asset forfeiture laws are not being used to go after the true drug barons in this country but seemingly ordinary citizens that are trying to help themselves or others, in the case of medical marijuana. I have now problem calling marijuana cultivation and distribution a "business" endeavour. I think we can skip the "we are here to help" nonsense when discussing the issue. I'm old enough to buy pot in the state where the substance has been decriminalized. Let us avoid publications where the author address their audience as if they are juveniles.

Took place in Arizona. The raid was conducted by local law enforcement, I don't think the Obama administration was directly involved in this incident.
What you mentioned in your response should be of great interest to the public. I will also add that the individual is responsible for what substances they decide to use.

I see that you are also part of the "Lets Blame Obama for Everything Crowd" But these asset forfeiture laws found their legs in the height of the drug war during the Reagan Administration. These "civil" actions were supposed to be used to go after the drug cartels and drug kingpins. Today, many police departments actively pursued civil forfeiture as a means to fund their departments, because in a majority of cases, they get to keep the assets. Because this is a civil action, the burden of proof now turns to the defendant, who has to file suit to get their property back. Unfortunately, these laws are often used to target those who cannot fight back. See the example from Philly.

and although I was/am a huge fan of many things that Reagan did, the truth of the matter is, we doubled down on stupid regarding the "war on drugs" under Reagan and as much as I can't stand Obama, Reagan is more to blame for the current situation where it comes to this travesty of justice than is Obama.

Here is an article written back in 2012 on jihadists growing in Mexico. So why do we have a border crisis, but we are more concerned with Syria and Iraq? Makes no sense.
What is crazy, is funding both sides of a war on terrorists or drugs. Then make American citizens the enemy.
