I always shower just before an appt., if coming from work I ask to take a quick shower at her incall, they are always happy to accomodate. If I had to ask a provider to shower because she was funky I think I would leave. Yuk!

i have read many reviews where clients shower immediately before and/or after a session at a provider's incall - is this a just a thing that married clients have to do or a personal preference?

It is expected that you be clean. If that means requesting a shower on your arrival then by all means do so, and be prepared for the fact that your shower will likely be "on the clock".
I mostly do outcalls and typically will have showered immediately before her arrival, but if I'm doing an incall and haven't had a chance to clean up I will ask if I may shower, nobody has said no yet.
If I am going straight home I will ask for a shower after to rinse off any perfumes, lubes etc. Sometimes she will consent to join you for a whole new round of clean fun!
Are you implying that they needed a shower or that you wanted to play in the tub? In the case of the former I wouldn't stick around to find out if she would comply!
I do mostly in call and I do it mostly on days off. I shower just before heading over to my appointment. Believe me, a woman can tell if you need a shower and if she suggests it I think it's probably a good idea to comply. It's five minutes out of your appointment but the remaining time won't be nearly as rewarding if you get off on the wrong foot.

Oh, Gentlmen, please please please shower. My goodness. There should be no question about that. You're a man! You sweat. You wake up in the morning, by noon you need a shower! I always shower before seeing a client and after. I would expect the same. If you are not going to be clean, it would make me suspicious of everything else. With me, you wouldn't be on the clock unless you're taking a 45 minute shower! How long does it take, 2-5 minutes? Shower, shower, shower... can't say it enough. And don't forget those hard to reach places!
My first two times hobbying I declined the shower, but now I can see how it make make the lady feel uncomfortable. Therefore, now I always jump in and wash the odor producing areas well. No more than 3 minutes, and she starts the clock afterwards. Win/win.

I've never had a provider ask me to take a shower when I got there. But as a courtesy, I always take a shower right before leaving the house for an appointment. I'm guessing the providers noticed that, so they didn't ask me. However, I always shower right before leaving the appointment, so I won't go out in public with a fruity smell on me. (I had that happen to me in a strip club. After a girl gave me a lap dance, my shirt smelled like watermelon.)
