There were no injuries or fatalities due to automobile accidents. But once the genie was let out of the bottle there was no getting it back in.

Here's the difference:
Granny's action was tragic. There are no victims here, there are no criminals here, it was a tragic tragic accident.
The guy who gets shot because he's defending his store against a lowlife criminal is the victim, not the piece of shit lowlife criminal who shoots him for not opening the cash register fast enough.
