Personally, I'd go with the dry-aged rib-eye at Del Frisco's or The Palm. Want some?
Gallaghers underwent a face lift and reopened a few months ago under new owner Dean Poll who also runs The Boathouse in Central Park. Great bar but the food was lacking ....hopefully that's changed, but I haven't eaten there yet

Growing up I always asked my mom to proof my school work. For years and years she went to town with her red pen teaching me proper tense, grammar and use of vocabulary. These days it drives me crazy when I see people in their 30's, 40's and 50's using to, too and two incorrectly. I almost laugh out loud when I notice people using words with passion when they've no idea what the word really means. I spotted someone using the word "minion" several times this week when referring to her children. It was humorous to me and awful at the same time so I figured I'd start a little Vocabulary 101 thread for fun.

The Word Of The Week This Week is:  Minion

Minion - a follower or underlying of a powerful person, especially a servile or unimportant one.

Minion is generally used to describe someone who demonstrates questionable character or someone who’s submissive in personality yet still aggressive in pursuing underhanded goals and missions. For example, you probably wouldn’t want to call your friends, family or children your “minions” as it’s generally considered a derogatory comment.

Proper use of the word “minion” or “minions” in a sentence:
King Henry and his bandwagon of misfit minions changed the history of England forever with their self-indulgent and hedonist ways.

~~~~~~~~ Next week's word is Parasite!~~~~~ Look it up and practice using it!
A group of at least 10 Jewish men, needed to form a prayer group.
Kramden13's definition is the one used among Orthodox Jews.  Among less traditional Jews, for example, Conservative, Reconstructionist, or Reform, the definition is expanded to include women.  The Orthodox do not consider this a valid interpretation of Jewish law.
My hometown is mostly reform with a second jewish majority of conservative. There is a chabad now as well that is somewhere in between the two, maybe mostly conservative.
Unfortunately, even in my non-orthodox (let alone non-hasidic) hometown, a minyan consists ONLY of men.
Allowing women to count in a minyan is a beautiful thing that I think should happen in more places, however that is actually a small percentage of any of the world's jewish communities.
I do believe that if the exception is to be made anywhere, or be allowed "give," it should be for during shiva. Having that minyan every night pushes the deceased soul further up. Sometimes there simply isn't enough family or community around every night for ten men. It's not for the benefit of those praying though. Slightly off topic, but a personal religious issue of mine.
Kiss me,
Kate
I love the fillet minion at Gallagher’s. (sic)
If I were choosing a steak restaurant in the city I'd probably choose Wolfgang's on 33rd and Park. Shhhhh! They also offer thick pieces of bacon that are pretty darn hard to resist.
I do have a red pen correction to make. Please don't be upset but your favorite cut of beef is actually spelled filet mignon. It's close to "minion" but no second i and a "g" sneaks in quietly in the middle.
Happy Sunday
