A middle income family could afford a home, health insurance, and necessities until 1979 (the start of the credit card Visa through Bank of America) started to decline. After the last 13.5 years of very bad leadership of wars, racism and the impoverishment of the middle class. Yes, it does look like the Western world is sending 99% of Americans to the poor house and siphoning our savings through basic living expenses. The middle class was created in theory, with credit, to keep the economy going.
