1) Every new member of TER posting on the boards starts as moderated.  This means that every post he/she writes will have to be read and approved by the moderator before they are set to active, and can be viewed by all.

2) One's moderation status applies to all TER boards.

3) The usual process to get unmoderated is to post  on your regional board for a few weeks, to prove that you understand the board rules and that you have something to contribute to the community.

4) If you think you have done your time in the moderation, you can always PM the moderator (the much preferred method), or if you are not a VIP, post a message asking what needs to be done to to achieve unmoderated status.

5)  VIP membership has absolutely nothing to do with moderation.  The former deals with the your access to the info TER has to offer, the latter with how you conduct yourself.

6)  The mods of the national boards are reluctant to unmoderate TER members.  The majority of TER's traffic occurs on them, and the regional mods are in the best position to say if someone is OK.  A couple of times (and I'm not looking to increase this) I've asked a regional mod if they had any problem if I unmoderated someone.  This is the exception.

7)  Once you are unmoderated, you still have to behave yourself.  Your status can be changed at any time, by any mod!!!  A weeks worth of moderation is an effective tool for regional mods to remind providers that only one ad is allowed per week, or to tell a jerk that his post went well over ther top!!!
