Advise how to have the ultimate couple's 3some

I usually let who ever hired direct anything and everything unless they defer 
Should the couple or the provider direct the 3 some?
My wife & I had 50+ 3somes with providers now. 99% of the providers we saw want me to direct. Usually the provider straight out says: “you direct.” In the few occasions where the provider starts it doesn't take long for her to prompt "What do you want to do next?" And this is with us bringing toys including strapons & double dildos so there's no shortage of equipment to work with.
I find that interesting since most single reviews the reviewer indicated that the provider directed. No complaints here! I feel like a porn movie director. I get to research positions beforehand & I even create an Excel SS with 3some positions that really turns on my wife when I go through it with her. If I had a complaint it's that we usually run out of time/steam before we complete half of my list.
My wife & I recently rated our favorite 3somes & we agreed that our #1 3some the provider directed. Admittedly, we lied & claimed were newbies so I guess the provider felt she had to direct.
Is it just our experience or do providers never direct 3somes? Does anyone have experience with both? Which is better: the couple or the provider directing the 3 some? If I was to guess why providers don’t attempt to direct it’s because they’re worried about drama occurring. Although we’ve seen many providers multiple times and still…
