Where there are "arranged marriages" there often is NOT

equality between the sexes. 'Gender roles' are usually quite explicit also.

America is not only a "great experiment" in democracy and self government. We've thrown out the rule book on long established social mores also. Having unfettered opportunity and license to pursue such for both sexes has manifested its own set of social ills. The adopting of the "Dollar" as our one and only true 'God' has also reaped some unfortunate sociopolitical results.

America arguably has the highest standard of living in the world; but as a "people" were one of the most unhappy.

People laugh and ridicule old fashioned "arranged" marriages in the East.    Here we ware, years of dating, live in, and marriage and then these divorces.     My best guess is more than 50% of marriages end up in divorce.     I have read of many ending with deadly consequences of one or both the spouses shot to death, children shot to death, those meaningless restraining orders.

The country is in a heated debate, political religious and morals about birth control,  contraception, abortions and what not.     A more serious cultural issue are these divorces.    Should this not be on top as something that has more serious consequences than birth control, contraception and abortions?

My personal recommendation to anyone is to not get married at all-arranged-or whatever....that way there is no 50%-if I knew then what I know now-wouldn't have happened...but youth is naïve !!

"In the U.S., life satisfaction continued to drop, from 14th in last year's report to 17th in this year's report. This is despite the fact the U.S. led all nations in both disposable income and household net wealth per capita."

A lot of those are same people who get divorced multiple times. A divorce is better than a dead marriage any time.

..........to beg for their partners hand in marriage, but little did they know about what was going to come next. Most women are devious creatures and smarter than most men. Only fools refuse to acknowledge this fact.

OTOH I would have gotten on my knees to beg to get out of my one marriage if that's what it would have taken to get out. Fortunately it didn't come to that, simply giving her all my money seemed to work just fine. lol

I really don't see the fact that 50% of marriages being a sign of "unhappy" people, my divorce was over twenty years ago and I am as happy as a clam. A thousand times happier than those of you who think they are trapped in a loveless/sexless marriage. Not to preach, but you guys only THINK you are trapped, I am like a wolf caught in a trap, I'd chew my fucking leg off to save my life and gain my freedom.

First, is the rate of divorce really a bad thing? People often say it is, but really, is it? I don't think divorce has caused an increase in crime, or increased the national debt.

The biggest problem with divorce is that harm it causes to children. I grew up in the 90's when a lot of the people I knew had parents who had divorced. This caused a lot of harm to a lot of the kids I knew in school.

This instilled in me the notion that marriage really should be forever. That when you say, "till death do us part" you should phucking mean it. And if you have kids, then you're just a horrible person if you leave a marriage. Parents who are too self-centered to put their kids over their own petty problems make my blood boil.

If there are dire circumstances, I can understand. But most of the time, it's over nonsense. I know someone who divorced her husband over trivial nonsense. She remarried to a creep, gets 3 incomes, and he lives in poverty and rarely gets to see his kids. He didn't cheat on her, she just decided to leave one day, got richer do so, and he got to have his family stolen from him.

The person who leaves a marriage is the one who should pay the price. That's not the case here in the USA. Feminism has allowed women to benefit from divorce. This is why smart men in greater numbers are refusing to marry. If you're the one who leaves a marriage, then you're the one who could pay the cost.

I don't think arranged marriages are the answer. Japan doesn't have arranged marriages, and they have the lowest divorce rate in the world. The reason why is because they really think before they marry, social custom demands that suitors get the approval of their family, and divorce is seen as shameful. And bringing shame upon your family is one of the worst things you can do.

Here in the USA, divorce often means the woman gets richer. That's why we have so much divorce in this country.

Men in this country really need to wise up. Don't get married unless absolutely sure first. Do you really want to take yourself out of the pussy game forever? Then don't marry. Girlfriends come and go. Wives do too, but they get to take half your shit when they leave. Your desire for fresh new pussy stays the same. Put 2 and 2 together.

Thank goodness I awoke to the charade called marriage in my late 20's.
