Over the last 6 months I used bit torrent to download many videos from pirate bay of various videos including videos of porn from a website called X-art made by Malibu media.  
   
 Just recently I was contacted by my internet service provider telling me that Malibu media had subpoenaed my personal info from the IP address associated with the Bit torrent downloads.  
   
 in case anyone doesn't know this people who use Bit torrent can be traced back their static IP address and identified.  Years ago there were lawsuits over napster music downloads and now this company Malibu Media is filing hundreds of copyright infringement lawsuits against people for allegedly downloading their contact supposedly illegally from bit torrent.  
   
 Whether you think its extortion or just a company trying to protect its content the fact is that the US federal court system (which really cant be called a court system anymore since its so corrupt and dysfunctional) has generally upheld the Malibu Media side of the claim and individuals will stand accused of essentially stealing porn videos.  There was a great article in the New Yorker Magazine about this that you can read here

 So anyway the company can ask for TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars and the only way you can contest it , is to spend thousands of dollars of your own money publically defending yourself against allegations that you stole porn videos.  Hows that going to look to your boss eh and family?  
   
 Anyway most of these cases settle and there is no aspect of the law that requires the company or the government to warn you before suing you.  
   
 So I am writing this in the hopes that you will post it so that others can read it and just spread the word...don't download X art videos from bit torrent.  If you want them for free there are other better places to get them like by using the TOR browser and you can pay a monthly fee and get all their content.
