I hope that dishonest asshat is reading this thread or has read it.
I also hope every lady out there contacts her for his identity .
This is a small community.

Recently had a repeat client see me for a date.
Upon completion he informed me that he did not have ability to pay
Said would send check- it bounced
Said would send another - 10 days not arrived yet
Any provider wanting to know who PM me

Must be someone who needs the paper trail for the write-off.

There are many reasons for writing checks instead of using a card or cash in other areas. But I agree, here in this hobby it's not the most brilliant thing to do.

... one incredibly stupid person.  Assuming the check he sent you was his, you now have his real identity, address, maybe home phone number, and checking account info.

I hope he does the right thing--and smart thing--and pays up, with a big bonus for your trouble.

Take him to small claims court!  Tell the judge you won the money on a bet and the bastard won't pay-up!  The fact that he wrote the check to you is proof that he owes you the money.

not wise to do that. Only gets more complicated.
He can decide to out you. given that he even knew your real name to write you a check.
Just let it go and learn from it.
Incidents like this, make SW seem like bad or more money conscious people.

Everyone hears everything in a "small town".
You've had a tough month Sweet Lily, hope it improves.

This man is an idiot.  Idiots are dangerous.  Write the money off and warn others.

Here's a more difficult thing -- this is your fault because you allowed him to do it.  You are a lovely generous person and made a bad judgement call.  Certainly he's a thieving flake, but you gave him the opportunity. But there's one more thing to say about that:

It is in part because of your generous approach that people love you.
Maybe if this happens only once in a blue moon then it is just the very occasional cost of doing business your way, and many of us like your way very much.

But I can't agree that it is her fault.  The guy is a thief, pure and simple.  Yes her way of doing things made it easier for him to steal from her but it doesn't change the fact that he is the one who did the stealing.

...Unromantic but this is an example of a problem caused by not following a primary rule, P4P means pay for play not play first & then pay if you want to.
