END OF MESSAGE

Hi all! It's that time of year again...  MY BIRTHDAY!!! And I have some family coming to town this weekend to visit. You all were so helpful last time around with restaurant suggestions for my birthday, that I thought I'd get some ideas from you all for things to do & to show my family that's never been to the area. About them: from Atlanta, loves all types of music, younger, very outgoing, kinda party animals, but still like to do artsy stuff too. I think I have the restaurants  planned that I want to bring them to, but I'm trying to figure out some events for us to do and places to show them while they're here. I've never really been much of a club type, but I know they are, so any cool/hip clubs would be awesome.  As well as any concerts, art shows, festivals of all types, sporting events that will be in town, etc.  Pretty much any events that will be going on this weekend, throw it all out there. I can never have too many fun options to to give them.  :)

All suggestions are appreciated!

Also, I'm still learning the Twin Cities, so are there any "must see" sites that I should bring them to? Like... famous landmarks, monuments, things of that nature. Other than the Mall Of America. They already told me they want to go shopping there.  ;)

Thank you all super, duper much! I know you'll give me some great ideas per usual and am positive that we'll have a blast this weekend. Thanks again ladies and gents, and I hope everyone is having an amazing evening!

North shore with colors would rock.   Too fad go to red wing, almost as good.   Tons of awesome food in cities, tell me what you like and I can give you some ideas.   Science museum is pretty good, and art around cities .

If they like beer, check out the NE Brewers Block Party. Lots of breweries, live music and food trucks.

Buca Di Beppo is an Italian restaurant that serves meals "family style;" they give everyone their own plates and silverware, and bring the food in big bowls, from which everyone takes as much as they want.  You could also look into local apple orchards where everyone could shop for apples, cider, and other fruits.  Also, Halloween season is in full swing, so you could take everyone to Trail of Terror or any of the the other fun haunted houses, hayrides, etc. that the metro area has to offer.  Brunswick Zone is another good place; they have a few locations around the area, with bowling, video games, laser tag, and food.  The Foshay building downtown has a skydeck lounge where you can eat while enjoying a good view of the cities.  As far as clubs go, you could try Ground Zero in Minneapolis, which is BDSM themed and plays trance, techno, and industrial music.

All good suggestions. Alas, Buca is now a national chain and is not as unique as it used to be. I'd also add Minnesota's Largest Candy Store.  They have a lot of old-school candy and their pies are to die for.
